Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The picada was ok. No morcilla which was sad but the food was good. However the frijoles didn’t really taste like anything. The sopas, tried sancocho and ajiaco and they did not approximate traditional Colombian soups. So disappointed! It was OK but not great.

I went to have lunch with a group of friends today and we had a TERRIBLE experience. The last time we went the service was not good but we still gave another chance because, the food is good. Unfortunately, the service today was the worse...I’ve ever experienced as a customer. At first we ordered three juices and it came with a LOT of salt, all of them. Then we asked to return and ordered another 3 juices because we thought it was a mistake (and mistakes happen) but they all came with salt again. After that it was just mistake after mistake. They brought our plate to the table with wrong sides and without rice and beans… the meat was already cold when (after asking twice) the rice and beans arrived. We decided to have sparkling water instead of trying the juices again, but my husband asked for a coke (which came after asking 3 times because they wouldn’t bring it). I would not recommend this place to anyone.More

I have been there twice. I love the atmosphere, The rustic decoration also the location is great. easy to find parking in the street. I order some appetizers was delicious and I order Mar y Terra I have to say I almost chock. The chicken,...Calamary, Octopus, Pork, Potatoes and Yuca. was dry .. super dry and no flavor at all. The steak was ok. I was really disappointed. I will think twice to go back there.More

We have come here for quite a few birthday dinners as they tend to be able to handle larger parties pretty easily. It's probably the first place i tried the skirt steak and I was shocked at how well it tastes - I order the...same dish every time which comes with a couple of side items. They also provide a side of various sauces to accompany your meal which are quite tasty. As starters, we usually kick it off with some octopus as well as the empanadas. For most trips, the services is usually pretty spot on, but during our last trip - it felt like the service had taken a step back. The drinks took a while to receive, took a while to take our order and the food wasn't as high quality as previous trips.More

My wife, stepdaughter, and her fiance went to Las Tablas on a Saturday night. I have wanted to for at least a year after reading in multiple Chicago food reviews that Las Tablas offers one of the best steaks for the price in the entire...City. Boy, were they right! The appetizers were fantastic and their two "specialties" the skirt steak and the Bandas Paisa (rib eye) were extraordinary. None of us were able to eat our entire meals, there was so much food! Best of all, the most expensive of our meals was only $28. I would drive to the City once a month to eat here. It was fantastic!More

Very high quality food with large selection of big, shareable portions. Lots of good opportunities to experience a really excellent new cuisine. Try the "combo" plates. We've been here 4 times with different friends all of whom loved it. Suggest shrimp/pork(pounded super thin) or shrimp/steak...plates. Lots of street parking on Lincoln Avenue.More

Came for early lunch, the skirt steak was excellent, large piece, done perfectly, well seasoned and tender. Plaintains and yucca were good. Server was very attentive and friendly.Nothing extraordinary but the prices were very good for what you get.

The food was average but this is not the point. We ate and left 15% tip, which I believe is reasonable. In an case, the server had forgotten one drink and a side dish I had asked. We did not say anything. After picking up...our tab, the server complained and asked us what he had done wrong. This is EMBARRASSING and EXTREMELY RUDE as the server does not know who we are with (e.g., a coworker, a boss) and there is absolutely not room for that kind of behavior. In any case, knowing Colombia extremely well (nor the cook nor the owners are Colombians), the food is a far cry from what one would get in Colombia. We will NEVER go there again and hope never to face such a rude and aggressive waiter; incidentally very much unlike what one would find in Colombia. We did complain to the bartender (who said he is the acting manager) even if we are far form sure he cared. This was a waste of time and a huge disappointment. DISGUSTING!!!More

Main takeaway -- Servers at Las Tablas steal from customers and the owner does nothing to make things right. If you have to go; pay in cash. I held my son's baptism lunch at Las Tablas the Sunday before Labor day. I booked a reservation...on Open Table weeks in advance and called on Sunday morning to confirm my reservation. The party was for 15 people. When we arrived the tables were not ready and they had to scramble to put together our area. After the guests were seated we waited 10 minutes for a server to come by and take a drink order. When he arrived; and ask for the drink/appetizer order he realized that none of the guests had menus. Overall from the time we arrived it took 30 minutes for my guests to get a water or drink. The remainder of the service was fine. I paid for the tab with a credit card and left a 15% tip; due to less than optimal service. When I checked my statement the following week; I noticed my card had been charged an additional $200 on top of what I had left as a tip. Las Tablas does not have a minimum tip % for large parties. Based on the erroneous tip; I left a 40% tip on the bill. No chance I would have done that. I went back to the restaurant to inform them of the issue. I spoke with the bartender (who was the only helpful person in the restatraunt) about the situation and he mentioned there was no manger on staff but the owner was in the back office. He also remembered my party and mentioned that the server was no longer with the restaurant (HUGE SHOCK). He went to the back office to get owner and said she was not available. He took a photo copy of my receipt and took my number and said someone would be in contact. After a week; no one had contacted me from Las Tablas. I went back to the restaurant the following week and once again the bartender was the only person available. No owner or manager available. This time he called the owner on her cell phone and spoke with her. The owner said that this would be reviewed over the next few days and someone would contact me. Once again NO ONE CONTACTED ME FROM LAS TABLAS. I tried to be nice and let them do the right thing; but have now taken to social media and contacted the BBB. I've been a long-time customer of Las Tablas but will no longer step foot in the place. Terrible way to do business.More

I took my father-in-law out to dinner for his birthday with wife, kids, mother, mother-in-law, brother-in-law and his kids. We were sat immediately upon arriving we ordered the sangria which was “good.” The server was very attentive and explained the menu well. There were several...large groups at tables having dinner. The atmosphere was relaxed and familial. There was a bar near the entrance and two big screens which had the bear game but where we sat we couldn’t see it, which is ok my family wasn’t paying attention anyway. I had the Entraña which is skirt steak which was very good seasoned with a Colombian seasoning, it came with plantains also very good, yuka(which my family loved but I’m not a big fan of, it’s a south American root) I ordered rice and beans which was $2 extra. The beans were very good. My wife loved her Charcoal grilled shrimp. Mother liked her “churrasquito” a smaller cut of a New York strip. Father in law likes the calamari shrimp combination but it seemed like he needed more. Oh they have empanadas for appetizers which my family really enjoyed. Mother liked them more than some of the other places she has been. They had burger and fries for the kids Also had nuggets and fries which they liked these were 10-4 year olds and they enjoyed their meal. It was reasonably priced. I give it a very good rating.More

reserved table for 7, no kids. for 7pm dinner. seated 15 mins.later. then got attended , 20 mins later by that waiter who didn't even introduce his name. since it's our first time to be in a Brazilian restaurant, we ordered their specialty. Well, I...dont know if that's how they prepare their food in brazil, but, it was not what we expect. So, my family just continues with what we have ordered, and try to enjoy the night.. but here comes the fun part.. after receiving our bill, the unknown waiter emphasized that we should give 18% gratuity?? For what service he does? Well, my wife said just sign it and be done.. I was gypped that night. So, never coming back and never will recommend this restaurant!More
