First off, the place isn't fancy. It's the common deli style casual feel. The staff there were young and eager to serve. I thought they were friendly and helpful when i asked about menu items. I ordered #1 which is pastrami and corn beef on rye... it was pretty good. My friend ordered a reuben sandwich that had the right... More

Place is basically a dump. Air conditioning was dead on the day we visited and the place was very hot. A little difficult communicating with the staff. Limited seating. But the food is very good. Had the hot pastrami on rye with potato salad and enjoyed every bite.

Forget Mcdonald's, if I've got a free morning then I'm looking to grab a McMorry!! Great food with the feel of a genuine old school sandwich shop.

I was with 2 others. I ordered what I thought would be a Chicago dog. It was wrinkled, had tiny bit of cheese wiz that they charged extra for, and was shrivelled beyond recognition as if it had been on a convenience store roller for months. My daughter ordered eggs & bacon. Her husband had a mediocre beef sandwich. Her... More

We walked here for lunch after a morning at the Museum of Science & Industry. It is a short walk if you cut through the park and that way we didn't have to worry about looking for parking. We all had different sandwishes but all were vey good.My daughter that had the Rueben said it was the best she had... More

I was staying close by so was looking for a deli. I was happy to find this place. The guys working there are all a friendly bunch. The menu is for 'meat lovers' so after my first visit I was ready to go back and try another sandwich. If you are in the hyde park area and you like deli,... More

I have been going to Morry's Deli since I was a kid. I grew up in Hyde Park/Jackson Park Highlands and went to St. Thomas Elementary School. Growing up, sandwiches from Morry's Deli was a treat! Mounds of warm, corn beef, on fresh rye bread-mustard only, dill pickle - OMG! My mouth waters just writing this review. I've tried Corn... More

We can't do anything in Hyde Park (near the University of Chicago) without considering whether we can make time for a pastrami sandwich at Morry's Deli. This is not a "destination" eatery. It is an eatery for those who live in Hyde Park and attend (or attended) the University of Chicago. It is also an eatery for anyone with fond... More

Looking for a good place to eat after the Museum of Science and Industry...thought I would try this place because of it's "authentic chicago deli style". Was very disappointed. I read a review that had warned me about the "appearance" of the deli. After we ordered at the counter, we were told to go to the cashier and pay...we went... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Hyde Park
If you want to get a feel for quintessential South Side Chicago, you have to make a stop in Hyde Park, one of the city’s most popular neighborhoods. This historic area is home to two of the city’s most prominent cultural institutions, the Museum of Science and Industry and the University of Chicago. A stroll here will bring you past vintage and grand hotels converted into luxury apartment buildings; peaceful gardens, parks and green spaces; and ivy-adorned museums and other cultural institutions that speak to the city’s diversity and architectural beauty.
