We ate outside in November in Chicago - not possible, but it happened. We started with a beet and carrot salad, which our companions liked a lot. The deviled eggs had salmon and they were good as well. The roasted brussels sprouts were a bit dry - a bit of cream might have helped. The short ribs were terrific, as... More

Went here for a girls dinner and I had high hopes. The restaurant is very charming I loved the decor and the atmosphere. I ordered to drink the Mule and it was pretty gross. For appetizer we had the perogies they were okay, deviled eggs they were okay, and a beet salad which I did not try. For my main... More

Interesting re-do of Table 52, Art Smith's original restaurant, but it missed the mark. It began with the bartender who did not know the difference between a blended Scotch and a whiskey! I did not get any better when he tried to make a dirty martini and used vodka instead of the requested Gin! Luckily the ladies were only drinking... More

This is really a gem of a restaurant. My husband and I thought the service was great and the quality of food an excellent value. We enjoyed some sangria and the delicious hummus and chips that come before every meal. If it were on the menu, we would order it. I had the farro risotto with pumpkin and walnuts, thought... More

Very good food and great cocktail. Only complaint....the door to dishwasher area should be closed. Takes away from the experience when I can see food being scraped into trash while I eat.

Having dined at Table 52, we were curious to see what changes had been made when the restaurant was redone this year and reopened as Blue Door Kitchen & Garden. We were delighted to see that although the menu has been updated and the decor on the first floor has been refreshed and the patio expanded, that many core menu... More

Walk into the blue door which is the entrance to this restaurant and you immediately feel like you are home. Lovely furniture with wide-spaced tables allowing for pleasant conversation. Food was very good and service was excellent. Fried chicken outstanding and the portion was huge. Hummingbird cake was fabulous and large enough for all at the table to share.

The renovation and revamping of this restaurant were well worth it. I took a friend to lunch for her birthday. Had it been a tad warmer, eating in the garden would have been lovely. But inside was charming. Lunch selection was broad enough to match anyone's desire. Wine and suggested drinks were great and well priced. Food was delicious -... More

Three of us had an excellent meal on the heated patio. Food is farm to table. Great seasonal appetizers. I had salmon... yum. Christy was our terrific server.

I had one of the best dishes of my life (apple celery root soup) and my friend had an amazing cocktail (Jackalope Hunter). My fish and chips entree was very disappointing. Breading was very spicy but fish seemed tasteless and was slightly overlooked. The service, while friendly, seemed rushed even though we had asked to be leisurely.

Staying in Gold Coast

Neighbourhood Profile
Gold Coast
Located just north of The Loop, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s most affluent and popular neighborhoods. The original Playboy, Hugh Hefner, once had a mansion here. In addition to prestigious hotels, historic mansions and luxury high-rise apartments, you’ll also find upscale specialty boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants. Walk along Oak Street for your shopping fix and dance through the night along Rush Street. The Newberry Library is also a great stop to check out noteworthy exhibits and rare book collections.
