Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had a family meal. Pie, chicken burger, steaks. All very good, perfectly cooked and very good value indeed. The cask ale is from the Roman Way Brewery. Very well kept. I would not hesitate to dine here again. I would recommend anyone visiting or living...in the area to try this pub. Very good food, beer and friendly too.More

I had seen some mentions on facebook about recommendations for the breakfast which impressed me so I went on the pubs website to enquire about evening meals having being impressed by what was on the menu we arrived at 5 pm went inside and asked...if there was a table for two available and could we see the menu we were told that they don't start serving till 6pm and they were at present doing the menus so we ordered 2 drinks and sat outside. Just after 6pm my wife went in to ask for the menu she came out to say they have changed the menu and its now pizza and egg ham and chips, we were very disappointed and annoyed as someone could of mentioned to us when we arrived that the menu was being changed we promptly left I cant see us going there againMore

We called in here Saturday evening for a drink, with a view to have some food if we liked the menu. We hadn't been back here for a long while, even though we live locally, but had been meaning to revisit. We chose something off...the bar menu and we were not disappointed. It was probably the best gammon I had had in a long time, and what I really liked was that the egg and pineapple was served together and you weren't forced to choose between the two as is most often the case. I dont like peas, but was kindly asked if I wanted an alterative, so I chose salad and it was delicious, fresh, full of colour and came with a gorgeous dressing. My husband had the burger and this was also very nice. The food was served up very nicely and just tasted absolutely delicious, the home made onion rings were lovely. It was modern pub food, traditional but updated and fresh. The drinks were also served nicely, my wine was in a lovely big glass, nicely chilled and very tasty. The landlord came over and had a word which was a nice touch and the service was excellent. Its also great to see basket meals on the menu. My only critisism is that the place lacks polish, the car park/garden at the back looks a bit shabby, it needs attention to detail, more colour, perhaps some nice planted tubs/ baskets etc. there was a broken pot and quite a bit of rubbish around, however I know they have suffered a flood and are in the middle of refurbishing. The bar was clean and nicely decorated but not sure about the overall style, seems to be a clash of different styles, however still a nice ambience. We wont be leaving it so long to revisit next time!More

This was a dinner with friends. The food took over an hour and a quarter to arrive. When it did, it was delicious, and freshly cooked, but we would have been happier if they had warned us how long it would take, or checked in...with us about it while we were waiting. There was only one other couple eating, but there was a skittles match going on in the bar. When I booked I was asked if it was for anything special and had told him it was to celebrate my birthday. I was still very pleasantly surprised when a cake was brought out, big enough for all four of us. I had the pork, which was belly pork, with pork wellington, with leeks, carrots, mash and apple sauce-it was very good.More

Nice country pub surroundings in restaurant, pleasant welcome from staff. Twenty minute wait before being approached for orders and being told there would be a wait for the food (despite only 1 family of 4 eating in bar and 1 couple in restaurant) - too...late to go elsewhere as we had nearly finished our first drinks and were miles from anywhere else. Time from ordering to food arriving was a further 1 hour and 5 minutes, no bread or nibbles offered or available to order meanwhile. All dishes well presented and tasted nice, appeared genuinely prepared on premises. Desserts were excellent - modern style, nicely presented, adequate amount but not too much. A couple of small mistakes by man who served us, nothing serious but did wonder how focused he was on the customers. Few customers for a weekend evening, meant not much atmosphere. Not cheap, but prices reasonable for quality of food.More

Well I have to tell everyone that the pate here is homemade and out of this world. Mario makes it himself and it's smooth tasty flavoursome and almost so good you can't do without it, please go and try some , if I could award...someone a medal it would be sue who serves behind the bar waits on table and listens to all the woes of the world from patrons and still smiles . I can't understand why this place isn't inundated with customers day after day, I would recommend this cute little country friendly pub to anyonexMore

We had my dad’s surprise 75th party at the Shoulder of Mutton on Sunday. The back room with its real fire and the extended dining area was a perfect place to host friends and family. It’s cosy, spacious and private as Peter puts a sign...on the door advising it’s a private function. Mario made the cake and the iced Coventry City F.C coat of arms by hand which bought a tear to my dad’s eye (and not because they’d lost that day either !) We chose chocolate cake and it was delicious. The food, the room, the layout, the staff were all spot on. Thank you so much Peter, Mario, Sue and team. You did us proud. Please see photos attached.More
