A warm welcome was received when we went to the New Inn at Shalfleet. We were able to take the dog into the stone floored part of the restaurant. The service was fast and the food was very good with very large portions.

Booked for the local produce menu evening and I have to say we were not disappointed. Found it very hard to choose as everything sounded so nice, so we always order different from each other then we can share. As always we received excellent service, Daniel and the girls are always polite and friendly. But for us it always nice... More

Called in here on spec at 5.45pm, asked about a table, told "you really need to book ,,,,especially for this pub!" Glanced round and noticed tables reserved for 8.00 and 8.30. They could have easily offered a 2 hour window which would have been more than adequate, but because of the arrogant tone of the manager we didn't even ask.......left... More

We arrived for a family meal with the two children. The barman was friendly, but the restaurant staff were totally unwelcoming and unhelpful and there was no atmosphere. There was no option of fresh fish for kids on the menu, but we asked if they could do us a child size portion of fresh fish (rather than something fried with... More

Great fresh fish menu. A good variety to choose from. The portions were ample as well. A great location as well to walk down to the nature reserve as well.

We visited the restaurant of the year 2015 again this year. For the past 2 years we have also visited and had great experiences. Regrettably this was not the case this year. The menu was unimaginative and we ordered their showcase dish. The 2 person fish platter was the most expensive thing on the menu at £65. This was a... More

We booked here on the basis we were staying quite close. The restaurant has won awards in recent times but we found the menu a degree eclectic: soup of the day was ginger and asparagus but the fish pie, no doubt locally sourced, was not available. Eton Mess was served with berries rather than strawberries to the concern of my... More

Although we had a booking, due to the buses from Yarmouth (where we were staying) we arrived a lot earlier than we were due. I explained the situation to the manageress and said that we were prepared to wait but within ten minutes we were offered a table “which is not to everyone’s liking” but it was perfect for us.... Visited one evening with our toddler and were placed in the snug. Very cosy, friendly waiting staff and a great menu. We had the duck and the pork belly, both were delicious and very reasonably priced. Will definitely come back on our next visit to the island.
