We visit the Rumburgh Buck on a regular basis as we are lucky that his is local to us. Stella, Tyrone and the staff are always very welcoming and the pub has a good overall clientel. The pub is privately run and is a lovely traditional village pub with lots of character and charm. There are always a good range of real ales which are changed on a weekly basis which are well kept, the beers tend to come from East Anglia including Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex and usually include light, mid ales and a stout, these vary on a regular basis so you get a good variety of different beers, the only problem being is that there are too many good ones to choose from! The food is excellent, traditional pub fare with specials, all home cooked with good portion sizes and excellent value for money. Steak night on a Thursday is a particular favourite with us! There is also a garden area both covered and uncovered and dogs are welcome, there are also regular bands of all genres at lunchtime and evenings. We absolutely love the Rumburgh Buck, definitely worth a visit if you are in the local area.

Family arrived for a visit to our new place in Spexhall and phoned for a table for 6 at lunch time as pub up the rtoad was full.Lady was very pleasant and accomodating on the phone and offered us a table at 1 pm plus our little dog. The food was fab and the atmosphere was lovely as a group in the snug were singing traditional songs and playing a fiddle. The food arrived promptly and the hostess (i assume the owner) was very welcoming and chatty. My husband and I shall return as it is a lovely traditional pub.

We have booked a Holiday Barn conversion near Elmham in Suffolk for this week, with some additional parts of our widespread Family joining us from the Midlands. So as a party of 10 went to the Rumburgh Buck on Mill Road for dinner Saturday 24th. We were given an inside room for ourselves and settled in to some starters of Garlic Bread, Baked local Goats Cheese and Home made soup. The Pub menu makes much use of local produce - and our mains were a range of Fish or Steak and Ale pies, Home made curries; Chicken & Chips; fish & chips; Local Ham and a good sized steak dish. Really fine food with a very friendly service. And - they serve Adnams Ale. The Pub is an old building so watch out for low ceilings.

We are not local, but visit family in the area around Rumburgh a few times a year. We try to have a night in the Buck with each visit and it has yet to disappoint. It is a locals pub, and as a visitor I feel it is important to respect this. The locals are very welcoming and sociable, as are the lovely staff who often strike up a conversation with us because we are not regular faces. The food is good quality pub food. Their steak and ale pie and fish and chips are top notch and the portions are massive. I have not often been able to get to the desserts such is the generous size of the mains (please note - despite this, no complaints about the size of the main, it’s great!) There are regularly different beers on tap and draft, always a wide selection from different local breweries - not just the Adnams you find all over in Suffolk. Its a local gem!

The Rumburgh Buck has yet to disappoint. All the staff are very friendly and there is always a good selection of beer. Particularly like a pub that still sells a good dark mild. That's what you call a 'proper pub'. The food is not fussy but very well prepared, good portions, traditional and a sensible price. The sort of place you can go to regularly and be assured you will get good value for money. The rural village setting and characterful interior just adds to the appeal.

Visited on 08.09.20 for an evening meal. Lovely homemade steak & ale pie and butternut squash stew with olives and chickpeas. Good sized portions in fact you can opt for a smaller portion on some of the meals. Service with a smile in these strange times. We stayed the night on the car park with our motorhome which was a plus. Thank you very much to all the staff.

As a group of 4, we arrived without a reservation on Saturday at around 12.30pm. When we went up to place our order at 12.40pm we were advised there was a 40 minute wait on meals. We decided (unfortunately) to order and wait. A group of 4 with a reservation, arrived at the table next to us about 15 minutes later. The hostess came to their table and took their order. Their cooked meals arrived about 20 minutes after they had ordered. Our single ham ploughmans plate and 2 jacket potatoes arrived at 1.45pm! On leaving, my curious husband enquired why the table next to us got their meals without the “40 minutes” wait and was told it was because they had pre-ordered. When hubby challenged this and advised that was not the case, he was told “they requested their meal be delivered at a set time”! Seriously. Not the way to attract or encourage walk ins. Here was I, thinking a reservation meant you got a table at a set time. At this place it means no matter what time you order, you get your meal before those who’ve arrived and ordered before you. As a side, it was the worst ploughman’s platter I’ve ever had at an English pub. After being told it would be big enough to share, “with a bowl of chips”, it was not. It was one slice of ham (very nice) 2 dry pieces of bread, 2 small pickled onions, some stale and crushed corn chips, 2 pieces of ice burg lettuce, grated carrot and 2 pieces of tomato and a soft, browning apple with a side of chutney/pickle. Definitely not worth the £12.50 we paid. If we hadn’t already waited 45 minutes, I’d have complained and sent it back. WILL NEVER GO BACK!

we were staying locally in a self catering cottage near a friend, this is his local. We ate an evening meal here on 2 nights, it's very popular so best to pre-book. The staff are extremely polite, helpful and welcoming. Not the poshest pub in terms of decor but it doesn't matter, it's a proper village pub. Our steaks couldn't be faulted, such good value too. We'll be back on our next visit to the village.

We have just been to the Rumburgh Buck, one of the best pubs I have been to. Full of character and one of the best steaks we have tasted it dissolved in your mouth. It is a friendly, welcoming centuries old rural pub and has amazing food. We only get to visit once or twice a year but we are treated as a local, it is very warm and welcoming. We visited tonight as we are camping just down the road at Green Haven, it also happened to be steak night! My partner had the 16 oz steak! - it was huge!!! cooked to perfection and dissolved in your mouth. Food was hot, well portioned and the burger I had was hand made and the coleslaw too. Absolutely delicious, and a wonderful atmosphere in a centuries old pub. - with a great selection of local beer too! All within walking distance from our camp site 👍🏻❤️ Winner! Thank you again 10/10

We ate twice here in the evening whilst staying locally, and were impressed not only with the extensive menu, but also the quality of the food, and the value for money. I particularly enjoyed the fish pie, which was full of salmon and prawns, whilst my husband enjoyed both the steak and the fish and chips. I would highly recommend.

Randomly chose this pub for my birthday lunch ... feeling rather smug as it couldn't have been better in any way. The food was excellent and very good value (bread pudding❤️), a wonderful live folk music band was playing and the selection of CAMRA ales was incredible, luckily we had a flagon in the car so bought 4pints of Humpty Dumpty's 'Little Sharpy' to take home. The staff were so utterly lovely and friendly; just a perfect experience! Thank you to all.

Met up with some friends for dinner this evening, and wow! We had a Chilli Burrito Bowl which was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! Hannah cooking at the Rumburgh Buck came out and asked if everything was alright, she was so lovely and bubbly. Will be back for more of Hannah’s food shortly! Thanks again for a lovey Saturday evening.

Came in for lunch on a Friday. Wide selection of choice, with most of us opting for their 2 courses for £10 offer. Quick and very friendly service from the owners. Proper home cooked food at excellent value. Thoroughly recommended.

We went on a busy Friday as a group of 4 with a large dog to eat and drink at lunchtime. We were welcomed ,cossetted and looked after by the charming staff. The pub reminds me of how they were before the big chains got hold of them. How I wish I did not live 100 miles away. For real ale drinkers this is as good as it gets. Everything local and a great choice. I counted at least 7 dogs, visitors, locals, workmen and all age groups. They all received the same attention and courtesy.

We have been on holiday this week and stumbled across this pub by accident. We have 2 large dogs and we were made so welcome and the helpful staff even moved some chairs away so our dogs could spread out. The ales are lovely and the food was tasty and home cooked. A lovely, friendly traditional pub. Well worth a visit.
