Well, what more is there to add - the best cooking for miles! Superbly inventive and enormous portions. Tony (chef) cares passionately about what he does and takes the trouble to talk to the customers about their experience. Fish and chips (and mushy peas) is...More

Very nice since it has been done up, good atmosphere and food but let down by the side salad that came with our meals, mixed leaves were poor quality. Didn't offer to swap them when asked so that's why I've given an average rating.More

Description
Thank you for taking the time to visit the Duke of York, or "The Duke" as it is affectionately known locally. We are very proud of this lovely British Pub and we hope that you will enjoy your visits, whether to try our great cask ales, eat from our freshly cooked menu, enjoy time with friends, or even make new ones. We have a saying, the Duke of York is where "people meet people", and they keep coming back because of the people who use the Duke, and our team, who look after them. The Duke of York is a pub steeped in the history of Romiley. A public house has existed on the site since the 1500's but the actual standing building was built in 1786. It is near bridge 14 on the Peak Forest Canal. As you enter the business, it is great to explore all of the little rooms in order to find your favourite spot to enjoy the pub on your own with a drink and bite to eat, or with friends and family. For those summer days we have a great beer garden that wraps around the side of the pub and many people are surprised to learn that we have a treasure of a function room upstairs that can cater for parties, family events or meetings.
