I visited today with my sister, Nan and niece for some dinner. The man who served us called John was really lovely, he was impressed my 3 year old niece wanted a cup of tea instead of juice, he was really friendly.
The food was lovely… the little monkey menu is great value for money my niece is only 3 and had pizza and chips and it was more like a small adult size.
Will be visiting again very shortly to test out some more of the menu.

We booked a table via the website which was really easy. We gave a £10 deposit to hold this.
We arrived a couple of minutes before the time and got seated straight away. The table was well placed and we didn't feel too close to others.
We ordered drinks and food. Food took about 10 mins to come out and it was delicious. I ordered the vegaterian monkey breakfast which was massive. It was so nice I couldn't finish it. My husband ordered the massive monkey breakfast and he really enjoyed it. Staff were lovely. The only issue was that they took my plate while my husband was still eating and came back to take my husbands when he hadn't finished. I felt that we were being rushed a bit. We ordered extra drinks after our food and it felt like it was an inconvenience. I understand that they were very busy and understaffed by what the conversation we overheard with the staff but again we felt rushed.
We asked for the bill and it took a good 10 mins to come over which wasn't a problem as we got longer to chat.
It was very busy so quite loud. They had music on which added to the noise. We did have to raise our voices to hear each other but that's not a problem.
Overall I would definitely go back. And the staff were lovely.

We were regular visitors to the former occupant on college road. However, azul monkey has taken this to a new level. From The moment you walk in the decor in classy and tasteful, and you are made to feel very welcome. The food is as with all restaurants/cafe the important but, which does not disappoint. We had the pancakes and the eggs Benedict on our first visits which were so delicious. The variety available and the first class coffee for coffee lovers makes azul monkey the must go place for breakfast and lunch. You can see this was a labour of love for the owners and This is more important than a business. From the moment you walk in, you will fall in love with this great new eaterie too.

Just returned from a disappointing visit for brunch. It was busy when we arrived so we had to wait which we had no problem with, we didn't have to wait long in the end. We ordered a couple of drinks each and two breakfasts (pancakes and a full breakfast) and the staff who seated us and took our order were lovely and welcoming.
Sadly, it started to go wrong from here. Our drinks came after about 10 minutes but 25 minutes later, our food still hadn't arrived and two tables (one party of about 8) who arrived after us, were served their food before us. I asked a member of staff and she looked into it for us then told us our ticket hadn't made it to the kitchen but they would start cooking it for us now. Our original waiter came back and asked if he could get us any more drinks but I explained the situation to him and that we didn't want to order anything else without our food and he offered us drinks on the house which we turned down because we genuinely didn't want anything else to drink. Both of the members of staff we spoke to came back to us and told us that the manager had agreed to give us 50% off our bill which we were happy with. 15 minutes after "reordering", our food arrived except for the toast with my husband's meal which we had to specifically ask for. The quality of the food is excellent given the price but we were underwhelmed by the drinks (average coffee, not very hot, orange juice from a carton) and obviously by the fact we had to wait 50 minutes for two breakfasts.
When we came to pay our bill (£25.90 originally) we saw that only £8 had been taken off, not £12.95 which would have been 50%. We paid the bill and then I went to the member of staff at the till (assuming she was the manager?) to query this and she (rather curtly) said it was 50% off the food, not the whole bill. I said that we'd been told it was the bill and she again iterated that it was just the food without so much as an apology. By this point, I was tired of complaining and we just wanted to leave. So, after a lot of hassle, and two members of staff telling us we would have 50% off the whole bill, we were only comped one meal; both my husband and I have worked in the food service industry and neither of us found this acceptable. I appreciate that mistakes happen sometimes but when they do, customers should be comped appropriately and we don't feel this was the case on this visit. For that reason, we would be hesitant to return.

First time visiting and was pleasantly surprised to get a table for two right away. After 20 minutes of being seated and attempting to get the attention of the waitresses stood around the bar talking, we managed to grab someone to take our order. She first had to go and check if they had the sandwich and pizza we had requested and unfortunately didn’t have any pizza available. Waited about 20/30 minutes for the food and when it came it wasn’t impressive. I had the tuna melt and my partner had the steak and cheese and they were both very dry and not impressive in the slightest. We both left the majority on the plate. Unfortunately not very good service and not very good food.

I have previously been several times and the food has always been excellent the same can be said for our visit today. However the service we received was sadly not at the same level of service and has seriously made me question whether I will return.
We had pre booked a table leaving a deposit for 3 adults and 3 children. Which in the notes was specified there was 3 prams and high chairs required. As we entered the lady we were greeted with almost went to say she could not fit us in until we advised we had a booking. Not a great welcome to the start of our visit. Our table had not been set up with any high chairs and it was clear there was not enough space. We were advised there is not enough room anywhere for 3 high chairs, which in fact was not the case as we subsequently put 3 high chairs by our table. The lady advised that this is just a small coffee shop and doesn’t have enough space for all the pram, making myself and my friends feel as though we were being discriminating against for having our children . This is deeply saddening considering we are in a town which has a lot of people on maternity and would expect places to be inclusive. The server did not bring us any menus or cutlery, we had to request both of these. We felt as though the staff were avoiding us and we had to go up to the bar to request the bill, whilst the staff could see we each has children with us.
When we advised the staff we had booked and put in the notes regarding the pram and high chairs the lady advised that they do not check the notes on bookings. If you as restaurant, cafe cannot accommodate prams or children I think this should be stated on your website and I would have expected that your staff would have read the notes and if this was the case called us and advised this and provided a refund. We were made to feel like we were an inconvenience because we had prams and sadly I will be reconsidering whether we return due to the poor service received on our visit.
To add to this I have sent this feedback to the restaurant which I have not received any feedback from. My friend also experienced similar service when she went with her mother and her child in her pram.

In terms of the restaurant size, as you have been before you will be aware that we are limited unfortunately on space. Our team does check the booking notes daily and we always endeavor to fulfill any requests. We have many mothers and babies visiting us daily and we always go above and beyond to accommodate high chairs and other requirements.
I completely agree with you in terms of your notes, they should have been highlighted and a call made prior to your visit to explain that 3 highchairs and prams we would not be able to accommodate on one table. I appreciate you flagging this up to us and we will now take steps to ensure it is clear on booking what the restaurant capacity can accommodate.
Our team pride ourselves in the highest customer service, always going above and beyond to make every guest feel welcome. I am sorry on this occasion you did not feel this way.

This was my first time and was tempted there by my daughter .. I ordered 2 breakfasts and the waitress was lovely .. I told her that I had an allergy to beans so could I exchange them for tomato’s to which I was told no .. they don’t substitute any part of the meal .. I enquired WHY as the tomatoes are vine and not cooked but she said the chef won’t do it ..
I was on the verge of walking out as I thought it was a ridiculous thing to be told as the breakfasts are made on ordering and it was all cooked fresh so changing something shouldn’t have been a hardship as there where plenty of people having breakfasts in there..
I would just like to know that if the chef went to a restaurant/cafe and requested something which was not too much trouble would he be perplexed at the reply that I was given ????
Safe to say it did dampen my experience at your establishment and the only thing that stopped me from leaving was as I would have embarrassed my daughter ,and as she is a regular visitor there I would not do that ..
Needles to say I will not be going back and will visit the other cafes over the road where they are a lot more welcoming and seem to understand that they are not running a corporate venue and always aim to please the customer
And by the way I am not a Victor Meldrew and have been working in the public sector for 20 years …

The prices for such dreadful food is astonishing. We ordered paninis that had a tiny amount of filling it, it was microscopic. The bread had been microwaved so came absolutely steaming before deflating into hard inedible bread. The kitchen that sends out microwaved bread instead of a deliciously toasted well filled sandwich does not deserve either custom or a space alongside other, better and cheaper, eateries on the road.

The quality of our food is very important to us, we have a lot of excellent feedback on our portion sizes as we are generous including the fillings. I booked a table for brunch a few days in advance of my visit to meet a couple of friends who I had not seen in a year and paid a £10 deposit. We arrived as booked at 10am and I was showed to the booth promptly. We sat there and sat there and sat there. After 20 minutes I approached a member of staff and said we were ready to order, and was told someone would come over. I watched as the staff cleared tables, took other food/ drink orders, and stood making others their drinks (I would say the place was at 70% capacity). After 45 minutes (at 10.45am) I approached the bar area to explain that nobody has been over to take our order, they apologised again and said someone would be over, which they did. At 11am our food and drinks were finally ready and I have to say the food was excellent and tasty. At 11.20 we asked for the drink menu to order some more drinks, they brought it over and as we were about to order some more coffees the waitress explained that we could not order anymore drinks as our booth has been booked out. She did apologise, and knocked the 3 hot drinks off the bill, however we were not offered another table, just told we couldn’t order anything else. Rather than make a fuss we decided to visit another cafe on the same road were they took our order within a minute ans gave us our hot drinks within 3 minutes.
I understand that they have time slots and other customers need to fulfil their bookings, however when they had neglected to serve us at all for 45 minutes of our 1 hour 30 minute table, it was unreasonable of them to say we couldn’t order more drinks, and not even offer is the spare unreserved tables they had available. Very poor and disappointing!

The coffee is to die for and from the moment we arrived we were treated like old friends.
We opted for 2 large cappuccinos which were beautifully presented.
For lunch we decided on the posh finger ciabattas which were hot and very tasty with a side salad/ coleslaw.
Side of fries went down a treat.
To say the staff were friendly and attentive would not suffice, they delivered excellent customer service and you could tell they enjoyed their jobs.
The table next to had pancakes which looked amazing!!!
Can’t wait to return what a fab place with a great vibe.

We visited today for brunch for my brother in law’s birthday and it was an incredibly unsatisfactory experience.
The restaurant was pretty busy when we arrived, however it emptied out quite a bit pretty soon after we got there and yet we still waited 50 minutes for our food. Although we had booked for 5, there was only cutlery for 4 on our table so we had to ask for more. We also had to ask for the salt to be replaced as the one on the table was empty. Our food order was for 5 breakfasts, after a 50 minute wait 4 came out but my nephew had to wait even longer for his. My brother in law had ordered sour dough instead of regular bread (at an additional cost of £1.25 a slice!) but was given regular white bread on his meal, although the sour dough was included on the bill. Two of the breakfasts were vegan - the only vegan option of any substance on the menu - and we were immediately told that there was no homemade hash available for those breakfasts and were asked if we would have fries instead. We weren’t impressed with that but said yes, fine. When our breakfasts did arrive we were told that actually, they did have just enough homemade hash left for us. Great, except it was almost cold. We’ve had this breakfast a few times before and you usually get a decent portion of avocado but this time it was literally a teaspoon full. They’d also completely forgotten to put the beans on our meal so we had to ask and then wait for those also.
A dish of complimentary fries were brought to the table as these had obviously been cooked prior to the homemade hash being discovered.
When ordering the drinks I specifically asked if I could have my tea at the same time as my meal but the tea was brought about 20 mins after we arrived and the food came 30 mins later.
On paying the bill not once were we asked if everything had been okay with the meal. Needless to say, we won’t be back.

I have visited twice now and both times as amazing as the other. The first was with my friend for lunch and wine which was gorgeous and again today with my partner and newborn child. All the staff are amazing and always go out their way to make you feel welcome especially the owner. The food is delicious with loads of choice, would throughly recommend one of the best places in Crosby for food by far especially breakfast

Nice drinks, quick and polite service. We both ordered the pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. Huge portion but the syrup soon soaked in and after a while the pancakes were dry. Would be better syrup served on the side or comes with an extra jug.

Went for breakfast brunch, sat outside, heaters are great, plenty warm enough. Ordered via QR code. Main complaint was luke warm food. We could stomach the cool sausage and other breakfast items but we sent the beans back to be reheated. They came back exactly the same temperature so unfortunately they were not edible. Cold beans no thank you. No table checks by the waitresses yet they were pleasant with us. Lovely coffee but will not be back for food.

Absolutely loved my visit to Azul Monkey ! The restaurant is decorated to a very high standard and although bright and light very warm and cosy and welcoming. The chairs where so comfortable I could of stayed all day
I have given it 5 stars because that’s what it was... a 5 star experience right down to the friendly and attentive Staff the Amazing delicious food and excellent wine can’t wait to return to try more of the delicious food .
