Doesn't look much from the outside, but the inside is a typical country pub with roaring fires and lots of places to eat. Friendly staff. Menu choices are varied, with a childrens menu available. Dogs welcome too.

A very average pub. Food was poor - fatty dishes with little imagination. Not the worst pub in the world, just very mediocre. And not cheap.

We were staying at the Langdale hotel and popped up the valley to the Wainwrights for an evening meal. Excellent nachos to start followed by steak and ale pie and pork belly. A great selection of real ales and a roaring fire. Worth a visit.

Always comfortable if busy, and always good food. The smoked platter was excellent, and a good variety of meat, cheese and fish..

A friendly welcome from the staff and a good selection of well kept ales. The slow roasted belly pork fell short of expectations and was very, very fatty.

Delicious Delicious. Filling and indulgent Christmas lunch. Good selection of Starters Mains and Desserts. I chose the turkey option and loved it. Big potions but that was just me. Warm friendly atmosphere and very helpful and obliging waiting staff considering they had to work on Christmas day.

Visit every year during our stay at Langdale estate. This year we were disappointed lack of atmosphere, down trodden, poor food. The place was always full in recent years but why hot now? The food ? Our steaks were awful they were tough, not well cooked my medium rare could have walked off the plate, the onion rings greasy. On... More

With a fine selection of local brews, it's always difficult which one to try. Not anymore...try three local brews (1/3 pint each) on a beer bat... great idea...
