Our 2nd stage of Cumbria Way ended at this gorgeous hotel. Derrick, the "guest cum staff" (which was how he introduced himself) helped to settled us in. The rooms are excellent, spacious with very nice decor and furnishings. There is a resident lounge where one...More

So first of all I stopped to ask the way up to Pavey Ark. On the return a very well earned cold drink. I only wish I didn't have a bus to catch as the food looked really good. Set in one of the most...More

This pub is perfect. Location wise it's set in a tranquil and beautiful setting at the end of Langdale Valley. A great spot to start many walks. Inside its a non fussy walkers bar. Serves great beer, Old Perculiar is a firm favourite. The food...More

Stumbled across this bar while admiring the beautiful scenery around the Langdale pikes and nearby areas. We called in for drinks only but could've sat there all day taking in the views!. Stunning location, small and friendly bar with a great choice of ales, hot...More

There was nobody else in the dining room of the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel so we ate at one of the three tables in the ajoining pub. In addition to pleasant conversations with the other diners, we had a very tasty dinner of tomato tarragon...More

Came on a splendid, gusty August day after walking around Blea Tarn. I suppose I expected a more rustic secluded place. The "old" pub inside is very characterful and must be perfect with a fire on chill spring or fall days after a hike on...More

This is a proper old pub in a stunning location. We stopped for dinner after a day walking with our dog and fortunately the sun was out and we were able to sit outside and enjoy the stunning scenery. It is well worth the effort...More

Ordered a Sunday roast was cold. And considering we ordered roast beef Yorkshire and roast potatoes. We actually got chicken nuggets instead of roasts. Not very good service either.
