Dry rub BBQ is my favorite and they do it best here. They have BBQ sauce at the table for those who prefer a wet BBQ. Servings are large but for smaller appetites they offer a smaller sandwich if you ask. Order their baked beans-another of my favorites.

I am so sad we used to love the BBQ at 17th. Melt in your mouth, yummy goodness that was as good for special occasions as it was for special dates. But, something has gone terribly wrong, every time we have been to the restaurant in Marion we have walked away disappointed. The meat is dry and tasteless. The ribs... More

Unfortunately this once proud establishment has let its standards die! We really used to look forward to going to 17th Street every time we came back home to have some world famous BBQ, but no longer.

I had the ribs, they were spicy and dry, we also had brisket which was good, applesauce tasted canned, hush puppies were good, Mac & cheese was good, side salad crispy & fresh, I didnt care for the coleslaw I prefer creamy, I also didn't care for the potato... Great service and great food. Took a large family group there and they all loved it. The server was very knowledgeable about the food and was great to recommend items since it was our first time there.

Stopped for lunch, the smells from outside were fantastic and I was looking forward to some great ribs! They were just ok, no real smoke flavor and I must have received some that were left over from the week before. They were tough and hard to get off the bone. The side dishes were good and the service was very... More

The meal was a bit disappointing as my chicken was dry and the portion was on the small side. The server handled it fine after I brought it up and a new piece was brought out that was juicier as described on the menu. I was expecting better from all the "awards" that were referenced on their menu. I would... More

Illinois was recently named one of "11 Top BBQ Cities in America" by Thrillist, thanks to 17th Street. Mike Mills and his crew are proud to support and shine a spotlight on Southern Illinois, sharing the gospel of barbecue and their delicious food both in Southern Illinois and nationwide. At 17th Street, barbecue is a culture, not a concept. The restaurant is a community gathering place where guests become family. Rooted in history and family, their delicious barbecue smoked using local apple wood and their famous Magic Dust(R). Owner Mike Mills has devoted his life to the pits and is considered by his peers a true pioneer, legend, and leading force in the barbecue world.
