Ordered take-out for 4, we picked up, order was ready quickly. I had the ribs, they were spicy and dry, we also had brisket which was good, applesauce tasted canned, hush puppies were good, Mac & cheese was good, side salad crispy & fresh, I didnt care for the coleslaw I prefer creamy, I also didn't care for the potato... Great service and great food. Took a large family group there and they all loved it. The server was very knowledgeable about the food and was great to recommend items since it was our first time there.

Stopped for lunch, the smells from outside were fantastic and I was looking forward to some great ribs! They were just ok, no real smoke flavor and I must have received some that were left over from the week before. They were tough and hard to get off the bone. The side dishes were good and the service was very... More

The meal was a bit disappointing as my chicken was dry and the portion was on the small side. The server handled it fine after I brought it up and a new piece was brought out that was juicier as described on the menu. I was expecting better from all the "awards" that were referenced on their menu. I would... More

This is a great BBQ place. Very original and extremely reasonable. The ribs were awesome. If you are passing thru, this place is way better than all the chain restaurants.

Great menu that includes something for everyone. Friendly staff too! Don't forget to buy some Magic dust on your way out to flavor your food at home too.

The food was good, nothing great. The beer selection was good with some local brews on tap. The restaurant was walking distance from many hotels. The service was okay. Nice change from the chain eateries usually found near the highway hotels.

My wife and I were traveling to Wisconsin from Florida and tried as much BBQ as we could. Now that we've settled in a little bit, I must say, this was the absolute best during this road trip. We had the Grand Champion Plate, only 23 bucks and had a taste of it all, chicken, ribs, links, brisket and pulled... More

Description
Illinois was recently named one of "11 Top BBQ Cities in America" by Thrillist, thanks to 17th Street. Mike Mills and his crew are proud to support and shine a spotlight on Southern Illinois, sharing the gospel of barbecue and their delicious food both in Southern Illinois and nationwide. At 17th Street, barbecue is a culture, not a concept. The restaurant is a community gathering place where guests become family. Rooted in history and family, their delicious barbecue smoked using local apple wood and their famous Magic Dust(R). Owner Mike Mills has devoted his life to the pits and is considered by his peers a true pioneer, legend, and leading force in the barbecue world.
