The location is stunning but the lodge itself might benefit from a little facelift. The staff were friendly and initially very responsive but this got a bit slower during our meal with me having to flag down a waiter to get our desert ordered. I started with the hen's egg salad. It was nice but would have been even better if the egg was hot with a soft yoke. I had the scampi for main, which unfortunately was only a special. It was delicious. The batter was lovely and it's so nice to get proper garden peas instead of those grey/green tinned ones most places use. Please add this to your menu full time. Perhaps a little expensive. We paid £55 for 1 drink each for me and my wife, 2 courses each and one kids meal for lunch. Overall was a good experience and will go again.

Laragh Lodge is in a beautiful setting and could easily just provide the usual provincial fare (taken out of a freezer or pre-prepared) at short notice. We have been there on 3 occasions. Despite the restaurant being quiet ,we have always had really lovely food which would equal the top restaurants in Belfast. From 3 very happy hungry teenagers and 3 discerning adults.

I have been coming here for years and have never had a bad meal. I have read some of the reviews that aren't very nice and I don't feel they give the correct feedback. The food is plentiful and delicious, it is great hearty food and the desserts are to die for, not to mention the stunning scenery it is definitely out of this world. Over the years it just gets better and now with covid they have adapted with takeaway and I understand they are closed for some refurnishments but can imagine it will just be as good as before if not better. Staff are always lovely and stop for a chat which i personally love might not be to everyone's taste but this is the Irish way and I think it just adds to the overall delight of the laragh lodge

It was a horrible wet day so we ordered drinks and sat in the outside covered area to eat our own sandwiches which we where told was totally fine by a young member of staff. It was clear from the dirty looks we later received from a manager looking figure that this wasn't OK. He stood the entire time staring and smoking on the restaurant door step (note this is so unprofessional and looks awhfful)! Two other members of staff came and sat literally beside us and lit up a cigarette each. It was obvious this was blowing in our faces and they clearly didn't care. We had a very small baby with us and a toddler. In 2020 this is totally unacceptable behaviour! Also £2.00 for a small plastic tumbler of coke is a joke. I would bring your own flask of tea and sit under a tea. There's too many nice establishments out there now to give places like this money.

I visited The laragh Lodge with my wife and granddaughter on 25 July this year The restaurant sits in beautiful location and the decor is adequate but not special. We ordered 2 coffees; spicy chicken with a small salad; a chicken sandwich and fish fingers with chips and beans for our grand daughter. The coffees came almost immediately (despite having asked that they be served with the food) and they were decent quality. The food arrived 25 minutes later: the spicy chicken was barely edible and the small salad comprised of one tiny lettuce leaf: the fish fingers were over cooked to the extent they could have broken the strongest teeth: the sandwich was fine except it arrived in a paper and plastic package as you would find in a filling station forecourt with so much as a parsley sprig as a garnish. Because the food came so long after the food ; I asked for top ups. The waitress came 2 fresh coffees and I thanked her explaining we only want a top up because of the delay with the food. She waved away my explanation saying we were welcome: it was only after checking the bill that I discovered we were charged for 2 additional coffees. I would certainly recommend the scenery but not the food or the service

The service was terrible it took 30 minutes before our order was taken and it wasn't even busy, the staff had no training and were chaotic and lacsidaciscal, not to mention not wearing masks. The acoustics were awful, it was so echoey you couldn't hear the person next to you. The toilets were broken during our visit so we couldn't use the bathrooms. The food was as much of a travesty. The egg salad starter we ordered was tiny, a couple leaves and a crumb of potato bread, the mains were ridiculously overpriced for the cheapest tasting burger I've ever eaten. They ran out of kids burgers and charged us for an adult sized. When we tried to gain the staffs attention they ignored us and served other tables who arrived after us, when we tried to discuss with the staff at at the end they had no interest in hearing it. A complete farce, don't waste your money.

We called in here on last bank holiday Monday in August for our lunch. We had been to glenariff forest for a Walk and decided to dine here. My husband ordered roast dinner which was fine I wasn't feeling that hungry so I ordered starter of crispy chilli chicken with chunky chips. When food arrived my crispy chilli chicken was luke warm so after some time trying to gain waitress attention I explained to her that it wasn't that hot so she returned it to the kitchen. When it was returned it was hard and uneatable. She offered to get another of the same but that is how comes. No apologies offered grumpy owner never mentioned meal just charged full price when we went to pay. Avoid. Beautiful surroundings pity they don't have a better menu better chef and more polite staff.

My friend and I visited here last week for lunch. I ordered the chicken goujons and garlic chips. My friend had the chicken Caesar salad. When my goujons came, although plentiful, they were lukewarm and no thicker than a little finger, being mostly breadcrumbs and not much chicken. My friend who's usually not hard to please pushed her salad round her plate. It was a special meal out with my friend, so I didn't complain to the staff as my friend would have been upset. We had good service from the staff. We have eaten at the Laragh Lodge 4 times previously and have always had great meals. I will return and just put this experience down as a one off.

Very limited vegetarian options. Only main was the chilli. Very bland and tasteless. The more I think about it it was probably from a tin, the pita bread was certainly Tesco bought and not even warm, couldn’t manage more than two bites of it. Considering it was £14 it was a let down. Staff member completely uninterested in my feedback, didn’t bother to try to respond. Will not be back and would not recommend.

We both ordered the small chowder for lunch and shared some chips. There was plenty, it was very rich so I'm not sure you could manage a large portion. Lots of fish in it. The kids goujon meal only had 2 goujons which I thought was a bit stingy for the price. However, they were good quality. A bit overpriced, but it's a tourist spot. Lovely setting, nice food and very good service.

Making the most of the unfortunate COVID-19 situation, Laragh Lodge is catering both inside and outside, offering a ‘patio’ menu, with a good variety to munch on outside if your lucky with the weather. You can also get the full menu inside. Staff were helpful and great at guiding you to keep you safe. Lovely spot, easy to socially distance, and located in a great outdoor environment.

Laragh Lodge was built in 1890 and served as a tea house for tourists visiting waterfalls of Glenariffe in Antrim, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The building has large windows so that one can enjoy the scenery while dining. Dishes are cooked to order from local farms and the surrounding waters. You can get vegetarian and gluten-free food here. We stopped for the home-made scones with fresh creamery butter, strawberry preserves, and a “cuppa.” It should not be a total loss; we stopped for more scones to go upon our return from viewing the falls.

Laragh Lodge for an early tea at the recommendation of others. The staff were welcoming and pleasant. I am sad to say that the food was not good. I ordered Portavogie prawns in batter. The first six pieces of batter contained little to no prawns and what was there appeared to be a processed version of fish. The manager's explanation that it was a bad batch and that he had sold plenty that day without complaint was simply not good enough. What really saddens me is that this restaurant sits in one of the most beautiful scenic glens in the world and has the potential to do well. However, as with many restaurants this one has changed hands over the years with food standards beginning well and then standards falling: what a shame - I hope this time the same mistakes are not made. Guys get your act together- simple well made food is all this place needs.

Unfortunately food took over an hour to arrive, when it did it the sea bass, mash and runner beans were luke warm. The ceasar salad consisted of wilted brown lettuce, croutons and chicken, not impressed at all and will not return. The Manager was quite indifferent to our complaints, just did not seem to care. AVOID!!!!!! AT ALL COSTS.

I was hiking over the carnlough mountains and somehow ended up in glenariffe (took a wrong turn). To my surprise, I came across the Laragh lodge and I am delighted that I did!!! When I arrived, I was greeted by a friendly gentleman who was dressed comfortably in casual attire, socks and sandals which made me feel instantly relaxed and invited as I felt at home in the tranquil atmosphere. I was served by a male named Michael and a female staff member Aideen. These individuals went above and beyond with their service and nothing was too much hassle as I had many requests. I had chicken skewers as my main and it was fantastic with the noodles. I was going to get a sweet as they had pavlova however I asked Michael if there was eggs in the pavlova and he was unsure and asked the chefs - I am aware there are eggs in pavlova but I appreciated Michael confirming this. The only downside was the fact the young boy behind the bar looked confused throughout the duration of my time in the restaurant and a young waitress with glasses did not smile. Overall it was a good experience, the restaurant was busy and standards were high. Never have I been so glad to get lost with no phone service!!!! :)
