About
Situated on the River Tillingbourne and surrounded by stunning countryside, this beautiful timber-framed mill dates from Medieval times. We've gone to great lengths to preserve the character of the building, with its jumble of nooks and crannies, ancient creaking floorboards, and a forest of oak beams. You'll find a warm welcome, a decent wine list, and good honest food cooked with care.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fantastic food and staff. The food was very tasty, well cooked and presented. I had venison pie and my partner had burger and chips. The waitresses were attentive. Everyone in our party of 7 agreed the food and service were excellent. A firm favourite now...😁More

Had a really good lunch in very nice surroundings, excellent food and service. Great value for the money. Very helpful and friendly staff. Not the biggest choice of menu and they do not have alcohol free wine. It is a very popular restaurant so time...is also limited. There is a car park at the rear of the building.More

A beautifully refurbished place with an old mill right in the middle and viewing windows so you can watch the water rush under the pub. The food was really delicious (rib eye steak, mackerel pate, butternut squash salad, pie if the day) and the service...was very friendly. Highly recommend!More

Walked from Shere on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Had some drinks in the bar and sat by a very inviting open fire. Watched a bit of rugby along with enjoying the ambiance of the place. Booked in at 4 for one of the roasts which...was exceptional and the staff really made you feel welcome and gave you the time! Very impressed as we had come from Reading for my birthday weekend. Just have to thank all the staff that work at the mill for their amazing customer service!More

Service was poor - we ordered drinks and still had menu’s when a waitress came round grabbed our cutlery from the table stating we are not having starters - when we haven’t even ordered food yet! Ordered Roast dinners as it was Sunday- children's roast...chicken arrived and was a grilled chicken breast smothered in herby butter! When complained was told that’s roast for children but then say so on the menu! Eventually after complaining to 2 managers by the time my child had my roast chicken dinner a plain chicken breast arrived. We weren’t charged for the children’s roast but still felt disappointing. Rest of the food was plenty but overpowered by rosemary. We will give the Gomshall a miss in the future which is a shame as the atmosphere is good.More

Our second visit since the refurb. A very enjoyable lunch - a generous portion of tasty fish and chips and a good venison pie - a minor gripe is that the greens were tough. The restaurant interior is very attractive, the service is prompt and...the waitresses are attentive and cheerful. Thoroughly recommend the Gomshall Mill - despite being nearly an hours drive for us, it has become one of our favourite locations for lunch.More

We have not been to this restaurant since it had changed hands but a friend had said the food was incredible so we decided to have a date night there. OMG you will not be disappointed the food here is delicious, so much so that...we can not wait to return to try the other dishes. the only thing for me is i am a pudding girl through and through and i had the bread and butter pudding. Don't get me wrong this was the best bread and butter pudding i have ever tasted but i always would love the option of custard especially when its cold including with the sticky toffee pudding. I didn't try it but i am hoping it is still on the menu when we next return. the service was amazing, the staff were polite and attentive. i have nothing bad to say about this restaurant. You must try it!!!!More

We came here for a Sunday lunch for my husband's 40th birthday. A large group with kids. The food and service was excellent and exactly what we wanted. The food was well timed, delicious and perfectly portioned. I asked for the bill to be split...by couple (in advance) to avoid having to sort it all out at the end (always a rubbish way to finish a meal!) and they could not have been more accommodating. Will definitely return. Thank you!More
