We had a drink & stayed about an hour. Staff & customers seemed friendly. Quiz night. Can't say much more about it than that.

This unpretentious village pub was recommended to us by the receptionist at the nearby Travelodge. We chose the guinea-fowl breasts from the Specials menu & they came in a cream, mushroom & brandy sauce (and youreally could taste the brandy!) My husband opted for chips &...More

Arrived at 7. 00 p.m. on a Sunday following a long delay on A1. Only a few people in pub but refused to serve food as we hadn't booked. No consideration at all to hungry visitors. Locals preferred perhaps.More

This is totally unfair as we had been exceptionally busy on the day. We also had a lot of people still to accommodate and were in fact holding a full restaurant. We always do what ever we can to but at times it becomes virtually...More

We've been here twice now, always managed to get a table at short notice for 8-10 people, with no complaints. Food is excellent and good value too. Staff are very friendly, love it. Will come every time we are local!

The pub is very welcoming if slightly scruffy however the dining room is nice and the food great value. Well worth going for a meal. The food is generous and nicely cooked, tasty and plenty of choice. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

We have been here 3 times and every time it is excellent. The food choice is simply amazing. Stopped here on May bank holiday Monday and three of us all had something different. My grilled plaice was superb but so was the curry and a...More

My second visit to this pub within easy reach of the A1. The exterior approach is not particularly inspiring, as the entrance is accessed via the smallish car park, and the interior decor is "standard British village pub" but the food exceeds expectation. From previous experience...More

I believe they open for a limited time on both Christmas and Boxing Day but am not 100% sure. I would suggest you phone them to find out for sure. I would expect them to only take bookings for those days anyway.
