Small independent restaurant where you can dine with friends or share a longer table with other diners. They make a fabulous hamburger for lunch and menu is diverse but not extensive. One negative for me, is chef doesn't like to substitute sides. Great place to try something new!

We had dinner before the Symphony; excellent service and great/creative food. Black Market does not take reservations so be advised. We went on Saturday night and easily got a table at 5:15 to make a 7 PM show, but the place was filled by 6:30 PM. Lively scene full bar and then some, focus on wide range of alcohol and... More

With the loss of R Bistro, Mass Ave needed an adventurous diner. Mimi Blue is great fun, but one trick. Black Market offers great variety. Our apps, meals, and deserts were magnificent. Now, this is a five star.

The best way to describe this chef's flavors is BOLD. By that, I do not mean overly spiced, but rather that the emphasized flavors come through with a boldness that leaves no doubt of the intent. Two highly recommended dishes are the welsh rarebit and the spicy chicken wings (only available in the fall). Both dishes have a complexity that... More

Black Market was a welcome change from road food on our trip. We were there for lunch so didn't sample the extensive drink menu but the food was exceptional. Location was hard to find but well worth hunting for.

We went here one Saturday afternoon for lunch. Whilst it was reasonably quiet, we sat at the bar and had a very pleasant and leisurely lunch. The beef and lamb burger was sensational and a great selection of drinks too. Highly recommended.

The wine list is extensive and according to our server and ever evolving project. Our server really knew the list and made some excellent suggestions based on what we wanted. The dinner menu is somewhat truncated. We split the brisket and added a couple of appetizers. If you get the brisket, ask for barbeque sauce on the side. Thursday is... More

Lunch menu is limited with only 3-5 options in each category: appetizer, salad, burger, desserts. Burger is very expensive and my friend did not think it's worth the value. My ginger soy chicken wings with mint watermelon cucumber salad is the special lunch -$9; the breading is hard and the sauce is not that great. We did not try any... More

Menu changes but always great choices. Would suggest a reservation if you are going to dinner. Outstanding wine selection. Some may consider it a bit pricey, but eat before you complain.

We had a really great date night eating out on the patio enjoying the warm night air! We had an early dinner and I ordered one of the specials a seared sea bass. It was phenomenal!! I definitely recommend eating here! The service was nice and laid back and the food was wonderful. Oh, we ordered the duck buns for... More

We believe the best neighborhood restaurants should be the place where you can enjoy fantastic food with eccentric beer, wine, and cocktail offerings. We opened on the East End of Massachusetts Avenue because our neighbors take food as seriously as we do, which makes it one of the most exciting food destinations in the city. We serve comfort foods with a modern update. Our obsession with age old pickling and preservation methods often makes appearances in our carefully crafted dishes. We believe that good food shouldn't be overly complex and the atmosphere reflects that attitude. We'll welcome you in jeans or a suit. Don't have time for a meal? That's okay with us. Come on in after work to unwind with a drink.
