I took my Family here for a nice dinner. We were 8 with Kids between 8 months and 6 years. This was the perfect Restaurant for a Family dinner. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Not everything on the menu is German. There is a nice wine list and a wide selection of beers. I had the Ribeye Steak with mushroons and... More

Our server was alert, friendly, and willing/able to answer questions. Oxtail soup was just warm and had more mushroons and less flavor than I would expect. My partner's schnitzel was described to me as very thick. My sausage platter was absolutely fabulous! Best sausages I've ever had. The flight of 6 beers came is such large glasses it was easily... I found this restaurant on google maps and decided to give it a try since my husband loves German food. We visited for a noon lunch and were the first customers of the day. The lunch menu was very reasonable and the food was very delicious. I especially loved the potato cakes and the sauerkraut. Would love to return for... More

We really enjoyed a late dinner at the Rathskeller on a Wednesday night. It was almost empty when we arrived after 8 pm (and they close at 9 pm on weeknights). Our waitress was efficient and professional and quickly brought us a basket with hot pretzels and spicy mustard. We ordered a favorite German beer that was in cans, not... More

We met up with family at this restaurant. It was fabulous! A nice selection of traditional German cuisine as well as American standards. It's a very busy place so you have to not mind noise. We will go again!

Nice historic building. Had to wait a bit for our reserved table. Awkward table placement, 2 people at a 5 top and in the middle of the main serving aisle. The pretzel was hot and fresh. The rest of the food was not very good. The remainder of the meal, jagerschnitzel and sauerbraten was really mediocre. The schnitzel seemed old... More

I love the history of the Rathskeller. The building was just beautiful. The tables in the area we were seated in were pretty cramped, so my husband and the lady behind him had a few bumps. The appetizer we picked was a Hot Wurst platter, and it was wonderful! We wanted dessert, but ended up way too full, so passed... More

Complementary pretzel with hot German mustard, excellent. Party had fish and chips, grouper sandwich, chicken salad sandwich, house salad with potatoes, breaded tenderloin and a kids hotdog. All were excellent except the tenderloin which was over cooked and dry.

We are local to the Indianapolis area but always seem to forget about The Rathskeller! It is so yummy every time we go! If you are a fan of German food, you will. Or be disappointed!
