Had a really delicious meal here last night. Friendly landlord and waitress were very attentive and welcoming. Starter (whitebait) was huge, too much for us really, main courses very generous. We had beef pie, halloumi burger and beef burger, all very reasonably priced. Thank you for a lovely evening.

We visited this pub on Saturday evening for dinner as we were staying nearby. The food was just delicious, we wished we lived closer so we could visit more often. The staff we all very helpful and friendly. Definitely give this place a go!

We loved this pub.. we dropped in as we were house hunting in the area. At last a great local pub that has not been fiddled about with. Great but simple menu, wonderful atmospheric building, great beer... what else can you ask for? The best of Dorset!

We were staying in the village (in Air B&B) and the pub was a suggestion by the home owner. We ended up eating in the pub two nights of our stay and the food was lovely both nights. It's an old pub that could do with some smartening up but don't let this put you off. The menu is lovely... More

Staying in nearby Maiden Newton, we were looking for a turning point stop for a bite of lunch whilst out walking our dog. This is a great pub, with good beer and great food, with a real friendly welcome from the landlord, staff and the locals. Highly recommended.

Having called in for a drink the previous evening and loved the atmosphere we popped in for lunch. Landlord is excellent, the best bitter is good and the steak and ale pudding was fantastic. Really friendly pub with excellent food. Cottage Pie with peas for less then £6! We will be back at the first opportunity.

Fabulous food for this fussy old fart. Landlord has a great sense of humour with a playful disposition. Helped me out with my 'Question Time' 'relaxer', an understanding host. Natives were friendly. Would go out of my way to revisit. Recommended.
