The Whistle Stop lives up to its name-filled to the brim with Railroad artifacts. There is an excellent train museum, a repurposed train depot gift shop and most recently a room totally dedicated to an H-O train set-up the likes of which I have never seen! It is amazing. Food is excellent; a bit of a wait but it's enjoyable... More

What a neat little place in the middle of no where. This is a great place for the train lovers in the family. Not to mention they have good food. They have a good cheeseburgers and an average tenderloin. Very good size sandwiches and tasty waffle fries. They also have really good carrot cake and hard ice creams for desert.... More

On a leisurely Saturday morning when we were in the area we stopped by the Whistle Stop Cafe. Several friends and family members recommended it and we finally made it. My husband, a railroad enthusiast, was impressed as soon as we pulled in. On the grounds were a variety of railroad cars and equipment, including a self propelled crane car,... More

Outstanding food and very friendly service. Largest salad bar with astonishing array of selections. Best you'll find anywhere other than the big casino hotels in Las Vegas. The railroad motif including the elevated and operating trains in the dinning area is a great concept.

Nothing fancy but the food was good. Child friendly and handicap accessible. This is a good place to eat after touring the railroad museum.

G for Great and G for the G scale train over head. The ambiance with artifacts is quaint and meal was well done. Lots to choose from on the menu. Bonus ice cream to complete your meal. Lots of locals coming in for lunch. A good option to go along with your train museum visit.

Great restaurant and train museum! Kids and adults both enjoy this fun stop. Good American mid-west food. I usually get the tenderloin and always happy with it. Trains outaide, trains inside, plus a museum to walk through. Then don't forget to stop in at the gift shop! If your passing through the area, a nice spot to take a break.... More

Stopped by on a lonely highway to visit a railroad museum; this is the associated restaurant. Great staff, good food, though I think the breaded / fried tenderloin was a bit dry, it was large and was good enough. Apparently this was a midwest favorite. Loved the model trains running on a track on top, and the multiple pictures on... More

Enjoyed lunch here one day on the trip from Chesterton to Lafayette. It is nice to find a local place, very clean, good food, good selection. Lots of local Indiana favorites like pulled pork and breaded tenderloin. Staff was friendly, and the place was busy even at 3 PM. The train ambience was courtesy of someone with a real love... More

We found the service quick and very friendly. The food was excellent and it was great fun to watch the model trains moving along the overhead tracks
