Nice dinning experience.

I had a very positive dining experience at the restaurant. My friend and I wanted a sharing platter to go along with our wine. We don't eat meat so the waiter offered to speak to the chef about changing to meat free option and we were served beautiful vegan sharing platter. We enjoyed our platter very much. The waiting staff was attentive and we didn't feel rushed. We will be back.

Went on a Tuesday evening and expected it to be quiet, but the restaurant was buzzing. We hadn’t booked but still shown to a table and drink orders quickly taken. Some 2for1 choices on the main course available Mon to Thurs Starters were delicious as was the main meal steak pie. Suggest booking a table just in case.

Excellent service and great value for money

The Parkville is great value for money, particularly the 2-4-1 deals. We had chicken pakora to start and cajan chicken and steak pie for main course. All the food was delicious with excellent portion sizes. We must give a special shout out to our waitress Zoe who was so friendly and willing to help. If there are any awards for staff going above and beyond we would definitely like to nominate her. Zoe is one of the most pleasant and helpful waitresses we have met.

Sunday lunch

Been here before for lunch and has always been good. However, went a couple of Sundays ago and it was very busy but there seemed to be plenty of staff on. Our daughter and son in law had given us vouchers at Christmas and it states that you have to tell them you’re using a voucher before ordering. Don’t understand that as the money is paid upfront when purchasing the voucher but turns out we couldn’t order off the Sunday lunch menu which was a shame as my husband wanted the roast. They obviously don’t want us getting too much for our money! Our starter came out quick enough but we must’ve waited at least 45-50 minutes for our mains all the while having empty glasses on our table. Not one of the staff came over to see if we wanted another drink even though a couple of times they seemed to be standing around. Think it will be a while before we’re back.

Never again.

First and last, terrible experience. From being crammed in from the begging. To order all our food to be then be told we couldn’t have the beef satay starter or the beef chow mien at 5pm on a Saturday night. Once we then re picked all our food the starters arrived and were ok. The mains were an absolute disaster. 3 salt and chilli chicken burgers which were the size of a whole chicken- not sure what’s going on here as it wasn’t even attractive that it was so big? Also nothing salt and chilli about the chicken burger itself apart from a few undercooked peppers and red onions chucked on top. It was so big it was off putting. One of the chicken burgers never arrived as there was a “mess up” in the kitchen and it would be a 6min wait. Fish and chips also never arrived and had to be asked if it was Breaded or battered (this is when 8 out of 10 already had there food) Cajun fries never arrived 10 mins after the mains and had to be sent back as the main had been finished. After our mains and starters a young server arrived with 2 Caesar salads? Eh? Not sure if it was a case of too much work load taken on. Under trained servers or what was going on but it was the worst experience ever dining out.

Good not best and choice very let down if vegetarian

So we thought would try here heard a lot good things about it To start with every nice staff .ordered drinks and had look at meal .i am vegetarian was very pure choice for me .so got the starter was not to bad but bland . Main cover curry with two baby boilers in it about 7 green beans and couple bits off onions and sauce was very sweet to the point could not even eat it any more .had chips with rosemary and garlic and Parmesan .chips were swimming in garlic butter with no taste and no rosemary .i have worked as a chef for 12 years being in and out places .but I know for sure I won’t be visiting place again . On the up side you could not find more nice and friendly staff really nice people just shame about menu and food

Underwhelming and overpriced

As a family we have been regularly going to the parkville for many years but have recently noted a disappointing decline. Attended for dinner service and sat for around 15-20 minutes before being offered a menu or drink on what was a relatively quiet Sunday. Both cocktail and dinner prices reflect that of Glasgow Town centre, a bit of a push for a local suburban restaurant however excusable if service and food lived up to standards; it didn't. My side of salt and chilli fries were essentially chips tossed on veg, little seasoning or imagination for the £6 price tag. My partner ordered a Chicken Kiev, which bizarrely arrived cut thus lacking the basic appeal of a Kiev. Service was unfortunately on par with the food, evident as a diner that some staff contribute considerably more than others. Disappointed to say I likely will not be back.

Disappointing visit to a well liked restaurant

Family meal for my wife's 70th birthday. Make regular visits to the Parkville & unfortunately this was the most disappointing. To summarise - waited very long time to initially be served & between each course, main course plates were scalding hot resulting in my granddaughter getting burned on her arm, 2 separate requests for water had to be repeated, 2 of the meals had clearly been sitting under the heat for a while before being served. I presume this visit was a one off as we have had no problems in the past.

Booked for my birthday with friends

Hi, I have just left the Parkville restaurant, I booked a table for 4 for my birthday with friends, I have been dining and drinking in the Parkville for the 20 years I have lived in Blantyre, however , tonight I was so disappointed with the food, my husband and my friend both had steak pie, my friend has had a stroke , she finds it difficult to chew her food. The puff pastry served with the steak pie was horrendous, my husband and my friend could not chew it, it was as solid, and at one point my friend nearly choked. When my husband paid the bill for £143, he mentioned this to the staff, however, he felt it fell on deaf ears. I recommend the Parkville to all my friends and family, but I will think twice now, what has happened to this place ? We where also approached by a member of staff to say our table was needed for a booking of 7 people, why put 4 people at a table for 7 ? Can’t believe how disappointed we are .

Fantastic experience

The staff at the Parkville Hotel were amazing for our Dad's funeral lunch. They were attentive, polite and extremely welcoming. I would like to extend extra thanks in particular to the catering team who not only catered fantastically for 4 vegans and 1 vegetarian, but went out of their way to add some extra choices for us. Thank you all for your hospitality and service, I highly recommend this brilliant venue and team

AMAZING food & service! 12/10

Absolutely FANTASTIC! We were booked in for 19:30, we arrived 8 minutes early and they took our order rapid (we know what we like, didn’t even have to look at the menu) & within 5-10 minutes our soups arrived. Piping hot & fresh as can be. Couldn’t fault a single thing for the starter. Not long thereafter our mains arrived. 2 steak pies with the most beautiful crust you can imagine and the most tender beef I’ve ever had. The roast potatoes were again piping hot and extremely freshly made. Lastly of course was dessert which was an ice cream sandwich (a scoop of ice cream between 2 cookies) and oh my goodness I’ve never had cookies so soft in my life. It was like subway cookies if they were thicker and tastier. But above all the service was absolutely amazing & that’s coming from someone in the hospitality trade so I notice every little thing (unwillingly) and honestly from table setting, to service, to banter. Everything was absolutely top notch. Our server (whose name slips my mind) he was an English guy & he was absolutely charming. Such a lovely character and personality and made sure our evening was as perfect as possible. Honestly can’t stop talking about this dinner I’m a big boy so I’ve had a lot of meals in my time and to say this was one of THE best would be an understatement of the century. The food, atmosphere & service was 12/10, above and beyond all expectations!!! I’m a regular for lunches & breakfasts because it tends to be quieter but after last night I’ll find it hard to not be visiting as often as possible. Extremely satisfied with the price as well. We had a good few drinks, 3 courses each & still would have had change from £100. Absolutely brilliant prices for the quality of food and service. Goes without saying the tip we left was fitting for the service we got. If I had more money on me it would have been more as well! Amazing experience

Amazing

I visited last night for dinner to celebrate my friend's Birthday. We each had 3 courses from the A la carte menu. My Goat's cheese and pear salad was delicious and my friend enjoyed her prawn cocktail. We followed these with a Chicken Parmigiano and a Hunter's chicken. Both meals didn't disappoint. Onto dessert and we both went for the Nutella cheesecake. It was superb, light and very tasty. The presentation of all our dishes was very good. The waiting staff were friendly, welcoming and very attentive. The restaurant was very busy with every table filled but we had no long waiting times for our meals. We both agreed that it's one of the best dining experiences we've had here and we have been visiting for years. After dinner we went through to the bar for a cocktail and a few drinks before heading home. Great atmosphere and very busy again but we were served quickly by the friendly bar staff. All in all a great visit.

Food definitely went down in standards and portion sizes Wee Steak pie definitely “wee steak pie” chips soggy heard Cpl next to us sending there’s back just not good waitresses were great Shame about food We have been coming to parkville for years there was a glitch a while back standards went down hill then was back on track for a while tried about a month ago not good gave it another chance hoping it was back to what it normally was but let down so we won’t be back sorry but it’s never as good as it was best look at it asap or maybe try a customer satisfaction survey get info you need to make changes or loose what a good thing Harry built

Typical Christmas Party Night - Mixed Experience

This review is really in two parts. A group of close friends at a Christmas party night in the Parkville. Let's start with a positive. Reasonably priced, with a random free drink thrown in. A big part of any night like this is the food, and it's a pity that this is where the Parkville let's itself down. Whilst the curried parsnip soup was tasty, it could have been warmer. The prawn cocktail was tasty but tiny, and who's bright idea was it to serve this with one quarter-slice of toast? Surely it couldn't have been much extra hassle to serve two? I'm told the braised steak was good. Wish I'd taken that, as my turkey (nothing else for me at a Christmas do) was no better than the pressed meat you get in a supermarket. I was hoping for real turkey, so very disappointed. Got to say the cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding deserts were great. Also have to give credit to the staff, who were friendly and attentive. After the food came the party, which was the best part of the night. The DJ played a great mix, evidenced by how busy the dance floor was all night. Perhaps the dinner concerns reflected the reasonable price. I'd rather have paid another few pounds and had a better dinner. But maybe this is typical of catering for so many people at this type of event.

Boxing Day Dinner

Disappointing. I have eaten here many times and on many occasions. On this occasion I found the food was of a lower standard. Service was slow , twice I asked for a dessert menu and waited 40 minutes. When I asked for a very berry cheesecake with double cream I got a chocolate mouse with ice-cream , the waitress was out of sight before I could say this was not what I ordered. I was unable to draw a waitress attention. I payed the bill at the bar and left. I don’t think we will be returning here to eat again. Not a pleasant experience. Not good food.
