A wet Sunday in February needs a warm and homely lunch venue .. and the Bolingey Inn provides that. The interior is old traditional and the customers seemed mainly local. Full in February so I think Sunday lunch booking probably essential all year. Menu traditional roasts, portions are large with plenty of roasties and veg. My lamb was tasty, my wife’s beef was good but a touch overdone. Decent home made dessert menu. Prices are decent too ... as was the pint of Doom Bar .. a perfect lunch accompaniment. Open fire and Six Nations on TV .. what more can you ask for?

Ate at short notice here on 21/10 - what a treat! Great menu. There were 4 of us, one being vegetarian and the choices were very good. My Mother wasn't feeling too great do wasn't hungry so we asked if she could just have cheese and biscuits and it was no problem. She doesn't eat blue cheese so we asked for extra cheddar. The plate was huge, wit two large pieces of cheddar and a big piece of brie, salad garnish and a beautiful sliced apple, together with about half a dozen biscuits - amazing! My friend has the sweet potato, walnut and blue cheese wellington, which she said was the best veggie meal out she's had. There was a slight delay with her meal (my nieces wonderful venison with port and blueberries, my salmon with crab and Parmesan crust and Mum's cheese were ready before) so they asked if we wanted to wait to be served together but we said just to go ahead so they offered my friend a complimentary drink or dessert - what fabulous customer service that you seldom see these days. The staff were attentive and helpful but not intrusive. There was screen between us and the next table and we felt very safe. If we are ever in that area of Cornwall again will definitely go back there. The standard of the food was excellent and therefore very good value for money.

Proper old fashioned pub with excellent steaks. We all had sirloin steak it was delicious and cooked just how we had asked, onion rings were tasty and great chips. Plenty was had by all and the wine was pretty good also my husband had doonbar which he thoroughly enjoyed. We visited on our holiday. It was a proper treat. No room for pudding is always a good sign. Highly recommended, atmosphere was cozy.

We ate here at the beginning of our week long stay and enjoyed it so much that we booked in for a 2nd meal for our last night.
The food was all home cooked on the premises and was presented beautifully, portions were very good, struggled to eat it all.
Staff were very pleasant, friendly and very attentive but not in your face.
Would highly recommend this place but would advise to book in advance as at the present time with COVID-19 regulations in place there are only about 9 tables available.
By the way they are also a dog friendly establishment which was great for us with our border collie.
Thank you so much for 2 of the best meals we have had in a long time.

Had lunch here and the food was very good. I fancied a burger but they’d run out of burger buns however as I rarely eat a whole one I asked if I could still have the meal minus the bun which was no problem. Well cooked and tasty, good size portion. Served with skin on fries and topper of cheese and bacon. Husband had partridge which he was pleased with. No room for dessert. Would have liked a wine list but not available so was told three options i could choose from by the glass. COVID precautions taken seriously and followed meticulously. Dog friendly in bar but not in restaurant. Would recommend

Very disappoint we are local and have been here before
Went for a friends birthday asked if we could get some balloons on table told we dont have things like that..
When we arrived we got a drink sat in bar and was told i show you your table. Asked if we have our drinks firzt as we were early was told yes no rush. 5 mins later was told can i show you to your table and get your orders taken. Only when we got in restaurant was we told there is a limited menu as it was curry and quiz night. There was only one thing i would eat and that was steak and ale pie. One friend had veg option. My husband and friend had curry. While looking at board the guy was saying right what do you want not even waiting for us to take our seats. When food came out well currys look bleak and was like a stew with rice. My steak and ale pie was tasteless and very pale in colour not very pleasant chips so hard couldn't be eaten. I was going to conplain but the friend whos birthday it was didn't want to cause a scene and just wanted to leave. Needless to say won't be going again . The only decent thing was the cake we took with us.

Hi thank you for sharing this feedback. Unfortunately we do not stock decorations as most guests bring them so we do not have them around us. Our staff should have made you aware of the limited menu on quiz so please accept our apologies. We have never had a complaint on our pie or curry so very disappointed to read this. We do make our curries on the weaker side as we find that is what most of the regular quiz night customers prefer. We would have preferred to receive your complaint on the night then we could have offered alternative food or taken something off the bill although understand you didn't want to spoil the birthday celebrations. We do hope we have chance to serve you a meal you enjoy in the future.

Stuart and the staff have continued where the old management left off. Excellent food and great service. We’ve visited the Bolingey Inn for many years on our Cornish holidays and can confirm it is a hidden gem.
Not found by accident it was recommended to us some years ago and we always return. Fresh, locally sourced meat and sea food (I highly recommend the whole dressed crab) all served in quant, old world surroundings.
A great selection of beers and a welcoming atmosphere are also on offer and if you’re lucky enough you might catch them on quiz night. It does mean the menu is limited but it certainly adds to the entertainment, although I’m not sure the addition of Cornish biased questions is fair on the visiting guests! Who knew about Brown Willy?
Due to the location and the very poor Perranporth taxi services, someone will need to drive, but it’s definitely worth it, can’t recommend it highly enough.

It has been a few years since I visited Cornwall and this was one of my favourite places to eat. All Covid precautions required at the time were in place and we were made to feel welcome. Good selection of beers and a great menu to choose from. The food was really good and one of the best meals we had in the week we were in the area.

We visited whilst staying in nearby Perranporth. We made a last minute booking over the phone and were accommodated. The inn is well hidden in a lovely little village. It looks very pretty from the outside and is quaint and cosy inside. The only downside is the plastic partitions for covid but is understandable as it is only small. The staff were extremely friendly and polite and nothing was too much trouble. The menu had a good choice of varied dishes for both adults and children. The food was absolutely delicious and was presented beautifully. It was lovely to receive the side dishes of vegetables to add to your plate. The portions were extremely generous, even the children's meals which they really enjoyed. My husband had the lamb burger which he said tasted amazing. I had the doom ale pie which I have to say tasted truly delicious with tasty huge pieces of steak inside. The hand cut chips were very nice too. We had no room for pudding but i am sure they are amazing! We will definitely be visiting again when we are next in Cornwall and would highly recommend.

After enjoying the atmosphere, food and drinks for over 13 years, we decided to take our family who had fond memories of this pub. To say we were thoroughly embarrassed is an understatement. The white wine was warm (and contained sediment). The glasses were filthy and the food... well. Costing almost £100 for the privilege of 4 drinks and 4 mains. Cold frozen chips, hard veg, and plates of greasy batter. As for the pie - it needed a spoon instead of a fork! All gravy and very little meat and even that was tough. What happened to that beautiful short crust topping? The serving dish was cracked and the food was tepid!
An extremely embarrassing experience, especially as our family treated us! What made it worse wad we wete celebrating and tried hard to remain upbeat.
Wished we'd have gone to Weatherspoons! The only positive were the bar staff who appeared equally embarrassed.
Gone are the days of the hand cut chips and Doombar steak pie.
I never write bad reviews but I felt the need to comment especially at the elevated prices that don't match the quality of the produce.
The Bolingey Inn was always a guaranteed jewel in the crown, sadly this is no longer the case. One saying comes to mind... if it ain't broke don't fix it!

What a great find this was!
We visited at lunchtime and found the food amazing!- very generous portions, extremely tasty as well presented by friendly, attentive staff. We had Ploughmans lunch, Mussels, Roast ham sandwich and Sausage and mash followed by Eton mess, Banofee Pie and Sorbet. We would thoroughly recommend ALL OF IT- Delicious!!
Well worth a visit but might be best to book for an evening meal as very popular.
Enjoy!

We tried to grab lunch during the week and sadly the pub did not serve food during the week. However, Friday lunch we were lucky to get a table and we loved the food. The portions were huge, service was quick and we all enjoyed our meals. Thank you

My family and l were on holiday in Newquay and the Bolingey inn came highly recommended to us by a family friend who has visited .
The atmosphere in the pub is very friendly and the staff are very helpful .
Our food was all home made , we had the curried parsnip soup for starters , the monkfish and the
Banoffee pie was to die for , all freshly made and delicious , we crawled out with full stomaches and satisfied customers , l highly recommend it

This is as others have said a good old fashioned pub. Open fire, good beer and rugby stuff. The bar staff, well lady was friendly as 2 guest beers ran out as she went to pour a pint, but Doon bar was well kept and plentiful!
Food was good- ham, egg and chips was epic, very tasty and less than £10.00 steak was cooked with care, very tasty and the onion rings were lovely.
No room for pudding, although they do take away.
Would definately eat here again if in the area. Would book table in the bar if coming at weekend or busy time of year.

Quaint&clean old world pub with a range of ales, lagers and Thatchers cider on draught that we have visited a number of times.
Please note that there is a car park but with spaces for 8-10 cars, 4x4’s could take 2 of these spaces.
Food was cooked fresh with online menu as-well as specials board, but the dressed crab has gone off the menu which is a shame as this is one of our favourites when visiting here.
Meals were reasonably priced however a bowl of chips (home made) was £5.50 which we thought was excessive.
Would recommend a visit and suggest booking as dinning room is cosy with limited tables during busy times.
