I can certify that this falafel is as good as the most famous one you can find in the Jewish district in Paris (rue des rosiers) in which I have been recently. Great surprise in the center of this little city.

Really cozy atmosphere. Fast service, good portions and a lot of variety/selection. You must try their freshly brewed authentic Turkish coffee. You won't regret it!

This is a great place for vegans and carnivores to break bread. Obviously the falafel is the main attraction and theirs is always perfectly fried with a satisfying cripness that holds up it's texture in a pita sandwich with the various sauces and condiments. Everybody does falafel different, and I've heard some people remark that Oasis is a little drier... More

Order three sides in the Genie's Plate and get a sampling of a long list of side dishes. I chose Madjadra, a rice and lentil dish with a mild seasoning, Moroccan Egg Plant salad that was quite spicy, perhaps a harissa dressing, and baba ghanoush to die for all served with warm pita. There are also pita sandwiches and other... More

Thought the blackboard menu is a bit confusing, the food is excellent! Hummis is made on site so as to be fresh each day. Try the lamb plate.

I finally went to Oasis Falafel to check out what all the excitement is about. I have a gluten allergy which is always a concern when eating out but the staff was very helpful in recommending things I could eat (which was a majority of the menu). Today I enjoyed the chicken skewers, falafel, hummus and babaganoush. They were all... More

My husband and I came to Iowa City to visit our Hawkeye daughter for Labor Day weekend. We stayed at our favorite Brown Street Inn and they named some local restaurants that we might enjoy. After our golf day, and football game day, we had to travel home. But we decided to grab lunch here on the way out. I... More

Stopped in for a quick dinner during our road trip. Good middle eastern food. You order at the counter and they bring the stuff to you. A bit pricey ($10 for a chicken/falafel pita) and no wifi??

Dear Stu, Thank you for visiting Oasis Falafel during your road trip to Iowa City. Lots of thanks for taking the time writing a review. As an owner, those reviews are valuable. I just wanted to comment that the price of our Chicken / Falafel pita is $7.95 (+ 6% Sales Tax) and not $10 as you stated in your... More

3 of us arrived around 5:30 pm. It was not too busy. We placed our orders and took a table at the back of Oasis. I ordered the Kebab Plate. I had the Chicken Shawarma, and Gyro for my meats. Sides were French fries and Mediterranean salad. It took a really, really long time to get our meals. Not a... More

Seriously, I have tried hummus everywhere and this is best. When we travel anywhere, friends request this hummus. We pack in ice and bring it. Rest of their food great but hummus amazing.

Owners and friends Naftaly Stramer and Ofer Sivan created Oasis the Falafel Joint in the summer of 2004. After meeting for lunch in downtown Iowa City the duo lamented that (at the time) falafel was nowhere to be found, and vowed to right this wrong. Naftaly had just left the tech industry and Ofer had just completed his degree in engineering – an unlikely starting place for what would become the world’s best hummus, falafel and fries.
