Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Average sums it up. Food and service. Nothing special whatsoever about the food, decor or ambiance. It lacked any warmth. Having heard great reviews we were sadly disappointed.

For the reviews we saw before was very disappointing. My mother in law used the word soulless about the people. That was the same feeling about the ambiance and the food. Food was ok not good and not bad. Could have had better food at...home to be honest nothing special about the place and wouldn’t return.More

Lovely location on the outskirts of Knutsford with easy parking. It was early in the week but busy. Not the friendliest of welcomes considering it was our first time. As we waited to order and weren't told what the system was, I assumed we had...to order at the bar but it is table service. I got the impression they needed more staff, but I had booked and it seemed so had the other diners. The wine was good and reasonably priced. The food ( Fish n Chips ) was fair. I ordered the small portion and there was plenty. I didn't order dessert but they did look good. I got the impression they have lots of regulars but don't think we'll be joining that club. Sorry . With such a plethora of good pubs, inns and restaurants close by I think they need to up their game.Sorry again.More

We went for a lunch trip on a Friday. We had not booked and when we arrived at 12 they were fully booked. Was surprise with a lovely sheltered outside area with heaters. It was slightly drizzly but perfect for us. We had between us...a curry, lasagna and gammon. Food was great quick service even though we were told a wait for food it was prompt. Really enjoyed it but recommend you book. We also took our small dog and its dog friendly and I have coeliac and the menu was great for me so no issues with gluten free eitherMore

We frequently call for a family dinner. Each time we visit the quality of the food is outstanding and the service is exceptional. Staff are so friendly and the food is excellent value with really good sized portions. We usually order off the set menu...which is even better value! Sunday roasts are delicious and we can honestly say we always enjoy every bite - clean plates all round!More

The eating areas are split between rooms which makes for intimate and cosy dining. We went as a group of 4 for Sunday lunch. They have a really good vegan/vegetarian menu which was great as 2 of the 4 were vegan. The service was attentive,...the plates were hot and the food well cooked and tasty. Pricing was reasonable. Ambient background music which did not impinge on conversation. Would definitely recommendMore

An excellent lunch. Thanks to the chef for providing beautifully cooked food served on really hot plates, to the serving staff who were so helpful, friendly and efficient throughout. Certainly a place to recommend to friends. Thank you all.

I really like the food, seating a bit cramped, can get very noisy, service good, however be sure to check your bill, been given the wrong one twice, easy mistake to make but never an apology. Try and book a table in the main room...if you can, but as others have said could do with a roaring fire. That being said, I still love this pub and its food.More

Excellent meal at The Bears Paw. Have been before and always wonder if it will be as good. No problem with that the food was fantastic and such great value. Will be back soon.

Had an excellent lunch today from the Christmas Menu. Had salmon which was just so delicious. . So fresh and well cooked and beautifully presented. The beans, sprouts and potatoes were also excellent as was the sauce. Importantly the plate was really very hot. Makes...such a difference to the meal. Followed this with the Chocolate Brownie which also was so delightfully presented and tasty. This was followed by Coffee and a mince pie. Pastry was excellent and this was served hot. My compliments to the chef and also the lovely ladies who served us. One of the best meals I have had in a restaurant for a while.More

Called here for lunch and drinks. Pleasant pub thats actually more like a restaurant, very well decorated and friendly staff. We prefer a cosy pub but hey ho. We were unlucky to be seated in a small snug. There was a table of 4 elderly...folk, perhaps hard of hearing across the snug and we could clearly hear every shouted word of their conversation discussing who in their family had covid and every detail of it. Wife had fish and chips which was a large fish and ample chips. No complaints, pretty good. I plumped for chicken “stuffed” with black pudding , pepper sauce served with new potatoes and veg. This wasn’t quite so good. 3 really tiny new potatoes, two pieces of chicken with a tiny hint of black pudding. The chicken was dry but it was quite tasty but i was left feeling hungry after it, i should have gone for chips which looked a larger portion. The veg was lovely though. I had a couple of pints of their own cask beer which was nice and would have stayed for a couple more but for the atmosphere in the “snug”. The main room looked more appealing but we wont return incase we get stuck in the snug listening to shouty retirees again.More

Dogs are not allowed in the main pub, although there is a covered, heated outdoor dining area where they would be most welcome.
