Have been here multiple times with family. Very nice day trip from Des Moines. Very close to the Neal Smith wildlife refuge. Can stop and see the buffalo after having a tenderloin sandwich with ice cream. The tenderloin is excellent. Thin large sandwich that is nicely breaded. The ice cream and shakes are great. Just a nice local family restaurant.... More

Certainly one of the top tenderloin sandwiches in Iowa and we've been to most of them! Next time we will split a sandwich so we can order their ice cream specials.

Visited on a nice winter day approx 11:30 am. The place was busy but we managed to grab a table. Although the restaurant advertises ice cream, it is also known for their tenderloin sandwich. The tenderloin, like most restaurants in Iowa, was HUGE (twice the size of a hamburger bun). I had the sandwich with tomato, lettuce, onion, mustard, ketchup... More

We went 30 miles out of our way to experience Goldie's Pork Tenderloin Sandwich. Goldie's take on this Midwestern classic garnered the Iowa Pork Producers Association's "Best Tenderloin in Iowa" Award (2009), so we naturally had to make our way to Prairie City, Iowa (Population 1,685 and about 20 miles straight east of Des Moines just off of Highway 163)... I was traveling from Pella on a shopping trip and stopped by the famous Goldies for lunch. I had the loin and fried onion rings and a small chocolate shake. The food came out shortly after ordered and was hot and very tastey. Lots of choices on this menu and I will be back to try something else. It is... More

This is a small town ice cream shop that also has Great Tenderloin sandwich. Good service even though they were busy. Well worth the drive out.

The short drive east from Des Moines was scenic with the rolling farm land out to Prairie City. Goldie's is definitely worth the drive for great customer service and hospitality. The tenderloin was HUGE! It was delicious and the Goldie fries were hot, crisp, and delicious dunked in ranch dressing. I ordered an old fashioned chocolate malt for the ride... More

Home of Iowa's Best Tenderloin, as well as ice cream, pie and other goodies. Goldie's is a must-stop for a meal or snack if you are in the area. Check out the nearby Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge to get a glimpse of old-Iowa, along with buffalo and elk.
