We loved this place and visited it twice during our one week stay in the area! The rarebit is out of this world with so many options, the service is great and everyone was very friendly, and the cake is just so tasty! There is...a beautiful garden area if the weather is nice but plenty of indoor space as well. definitely worth a visit or two!More

I hit upon this cafe while researching the area ahead of our weeks holiday. Now I'm a Welsh rarebit fan (posh cheese on toast, if you're wondering) so it was on our list of "must go's" The building which houses the cafe is an old...school, a very beautiful place with lots of character. We had a very friendly welcome and chose to sit outside to enjoy the best of the sunshine. There's a choice of various Welsh rarebit options (I wanted them all) but opted for "The traditional" My eldest had the "Special" which had Caerphilly and leek and my husband had the Spring vegetable soup with wild garlic pesto, it was all delicious, followed with a very lemony, white chocolate cake (yummy) Upstairs is a little art gallery which sells prints of some great work. I wish this was local to me, its a fantastic place to have have lunch !!More

Our first meal out since the beginning of the first COVID lockdown in Wales, in March 2020. We have driven past this establishment many-a-time on the way to walk our lively English Springer Spaniel, Lottie, on Mynydd Illtud common. Today we stopped for a bite...to eat. What a wonderful discovery! Lovely food and friendly service. I enjoyed the 'Peppery Patagonian' [heat level just right!] and my partner loved the 'Bunny Rarebit' with a 'Rabbit Food' salad. I described it, at the time, as: A fabulous Spring-like late lunch'. It really was a 'rainbow on a plate'! And I almost forgot: carrot & orange cake, a four-cuppa pot of tea, and a hot chocolate to die for - so I'm told! ;-)More

What a delightful building with plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. A nice warm wood burner in the main room for colder days. Good booking system, delicious food - what a great idea for a restaurant! Lovely side salads - I also hear the soups...are good. Good service. Great homemade cakes. And on top of all this, a really nice offering of gifts in the shop and a gallery upstairs that showcases local talent. The owner is friendly and helpful and greets you with a cheery welcome. We can't wait to visit again!More

Since our first visit last summer we've made a point of eating here every time we are in or passing through Brecon.... Once or twice we may have driven up from Caerphilly just to have lunch! The rarebit is delicious and the staff are wonderful,...so friendly and accommodating. Lovely building too.More

A return visit to the Rarebit, which never disappoints. Rose and the team are delightful, the setting beautiful and the food superb. Lots of variety of Rarebits as well as other options. Great coffee and cake to round it all off. Honestly the best choice...for lunch for miles around.More

Lovely old school building turned into a cafe, as expected from the name a wide choice of Welsh Rarebit variations including Vegetarian and Vegan. Lovely people. Slightly on the expensive side or would have given 5*.

What a find, don’t write many reviews, but this place deserves one from us. We were really lucky with the weather and sat outside with our lab. Food was excellent, our young waitress gave us great friendly service, a real credit. Food and drinks outstanding...value for money. Don’t drive by and miss out and definitely worth a detour. Thanks for a great experience.More

Wow. I had rarebit before but NOT LIKE THIS ! The bread was light and delicious, cheese was top quality, not a watery greasy mess you can get in some places! We had spicy and classic and shared half half. I wish we had this...place in London. I would be regular !More

We stumbled across this place on holiday and so glad we did. It’s a really lovely cafe with incredible food. They catered for gluten free and dairy free. The staff were really friendly and service was incredible. Highly recommend.

They do allow dogs but limited tables so we were not let in. As it was a nice day I said we were happy to sit outside but was abruptly told that they were not serving outside. Not very helpful staff.
