Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Full marks to the Dove for trying to keep up some standards when it comes to gastropub food, but I found the surroundings let the whole experience down somewhat. Bare wooden tables and unpadded chairs, and the eating area is small and a little crowded...together. I felt sorry for the couple who came in for a drink as they had to perch at the bar and they soon left. My food was nice enough but not exceptional.More

Warm welcome as always, a choice of 3 tables for 2, 2 by the front door and 1 at the rear, which was fine. Excellent food both starter and main, always well presented and piping hot. Gluten free choices not a problem. Down side no...Negroni cocktail, out of Rosso!! Excellent and timely service even when busy. Good atmosphere, as still a pub. Looking forward to eating outside as there is a lovely garden.More

This is always our go to destination!! If you haven’t visited yet then you’re missing out. Will and Sophie yet again have been nominated, and are in the finals for the ‘muddy stilettos’ awards 2024 for favourite pub in Kent, and as someone whose tried...most of them I can confirm this should be the winner. The food is amazing and we never leave disappointed with the taste, presentation or portion size. We cycle to the Dove and enjoy sitting for hours in their well furnished English country garden and if it’s windy there’s plenty of shelter. Staff are always so pleasant and genuinely seem to enjoy there work, they take time to talk to you and have a good understanding of the menu, we were served by a really nice waiter called Felix today who was so attentive and noticed if drinks were low and provided full table service which was lovely as we never needed to go in and queue for drinks. Standards have never slipped here, Sophie and Will work so hard and deserve all there success xxx Charlie and StuartMore

If you’re in Kent give this place a visit. Great service. The food is amazing. Possibly the best meal in the last 3 years. We’ll definitely be back. Please don’t take the pork belly starter off the menu, it’s very special.

Excellent food and service. From the moment we arrived we were really looked after. The food was superbly cooked. The wine list is reasonably priced. There are lots of great restaurants around Whitstable-this is up there with the very best. If you like The Sportsman, Land...and Sea or Samphire give this a visit, serious food in a lovely informal setting.More

As usual the meal was delicious. Sophie, Will and her team did us proud. We had the full three course lunch. Every course was delicious so thanks to Will for that. The ambience was as usual perfect. All in all, the experience was brilliant. We...travel down regularly from Norfolk and are never disappointed with the Dove and treat it as our go to! Peter and Sheila HMore

This our favourite place to be. Summer time is lovely outside eating in the garden & winter time a log fire. Really good flavours to the food, beautifully presented, & friendly staff. A good selection of beers, some local, & cocktails for the adventuresome. Sophie...& Will worked really hard during Covid & kept us supplied with excellent take-aways. Normal service has now resumed! I can highly recommend the venison & lemon posset with rhubarb.More
