Massive Breakfast for just £7.95 and I can usually eat loads but this with 2 bacon, 2 egg, 2 sausage, mushrooms, hashbrown beans and 2 toast was quite a lot, BUT I managed it. My wife had a small breakfast which she enjoyed too, and then got a cake. Hot chocolate and Coffee Very good will go again, plus free parking across the road. Friendly staff and clean tables. Kitchen looked clean and running efficiently. Thanks Michael & Tracy

This is a lovely spot to stop and eat but please do take your time to enjoy the produce which is cooked to perfection. They serve south welsh delicacies such as cockles and Laverbread (seaweed) and both are delicious. If you have not tried them be adventurous and give them a go. We had the traditional full breakfast using local thick cut bacon and sausages. The next time we are in Penclawdd we will certainly return

I would have given this beautiful little cafe 5 stars but I have only given 4 because we only came in for a coffee. The reason for this is, it is a smallish cafe and there is no menu in the window. We were looking for somewhere to have lunch on our visit to Penclawdd, looked in through the window and couldn't see what food is on offer and the prices. We weren't inclined to walk in, look and possibly turn around and walk out again, so we had lunch elsewhere. Later in the afternoon we fancied a coffee so ventured inside. I don't understand why catering establishments don't put menus in their windows, it really helps visitors to the area to see what is on offer before entering the premises. The coffee was absolutely delicious, the best flat whites we have had in a very long time. Now we know what type of food is on offer and that it is reasonably priced, we shall probably have lunch on our next visit.

Disappointing visit to this quiet cafe . I put our breakfast order in and after 15 mins , just before my husband breakfast arrived a waitress came over to say they were out of avocado. Why did it take that long to look in the fridge ! Anyway i had to quickly think of something else as they'd brought out my husband breakfast. (Which had snotty eggs and unpleasant beans) So I had an poached egg instead of Avocado. Would have liked to have been warned sooner to have more time to decide. They did not offer a refund as there was a difference in the price . I didn't say anything as wanted to see if the waitress would rectify. But they didn't. Staff very downcast and not that cheerful. Atmosphere flat. Used to like going to Cariad under the previous owners . Shame . This area is missing a decent cafe.

Unfortunately, because there was no menu for us to look at in the window we didn't go inside for our lunch and went elsewhere. I really fancied a coffee after we finished eating so we ventured into the café and had the most delicious Flat Whites we have ever tasted. If only we could have seen a menu we would have had our lunch at the café too. When we did take a look at the food on offer it all looked, and smelt, wonderful. I discovered afterwards that there is a menu on Facebook, but you can't always tell how old a menu is on there and also I had no signal when we were outside. We really enjoyed our trip to Pen-clawdd and shall return soon, this time we will have lunch!

A lovely cafe run by friendly efficient staff. I had a best ever Lasagne with a portion of chips and salad with a coleslaw the meal was well presented and tasty. This is a place I will visit again.

Excellent food, service and tea. Slight issue with our food order which was quickly resolved with a friendly manager who gave us complimentary tea. Avo breakkie was great and this was the only place on our week holiday that managed to do crispy bacon for my partner. Safe to say was a brilliant stop Would recommend

Called in for breakfast, a very wet cold morning. Quite basic inside compared to other pretty coffee shops / cafes and was a little chilly. No one greeted us even though it was empty. Gave my order to two young girls at the till who seemed quite nervous about taking an order & I had to repeat several times whilst they had a conversation with each other. Food was lovely and coffee boiling hot. Toilets spotless & spacious. Staff just seem unenthusiastic. Start smiling guys & greet your customers.

Was recommended this little cafe by local residents as we pass it regularly. Had a lovely lunch, generous portions and milkshakes which made my eyes bigger than by belly (well almost). Excellent service in a lovely, well kept restaurant, will be back

A lovely cafe with an interesting menu with some reliable standard favourite foods and a few newer vegan or vegetarian options. Very quick service with a friendly smile. Excellent prices in these difficult times. Thoroughly recommend this place.

Stopped here on the way home after a wedding in the local area. Lovely friendly local café with excellent service. The place was very busy at breakfast time. The food was excellent and plentiful and at a very good price too. Freshly made to order. Premises are clean and tidy and the kitchen can be seen from the seating area. The staff were very polite and helpful. Great experience and even better food.

Would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the hair in my brother's cake. It shouldn't have happened, however, I appreciate mistakes do happen. Everything else about this cafe was PERFECT hence the 4 stars. Delicious coffee, generous servings of freshly baked goods, and a cosy atmosphere.

Called in today for some breakfast. My wife had a large breakfast and I opted for the Welsh breakfast.. Wow, both meals cooked to perfection. The quality of the products were of the finest. Cockles and laverbread were outstanding. All coupled with a really friendly welcome and great customer service. If in the area you've got to give this place a whirl...

The drive from Windsor to take my father out for lunch was well worth it! A cosy and welcoming place. Food was wonderful, shame we didn’t have room for a piece of cake as they looked amazing. Well worth a visit and return future visits. Lovely little find!

I wanted to have laverbread and cockles and was recommended this cafe. My daughter and I had a breakfast and it was wonderful. Everything was beautifully cooked and the bacon the best I have ever eaten. We stocked up with homemade cakes for later that day too. Can't wait to come again.
