Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had a great vegetarian afternoon tea at Ravenwood Hall, delicious sandwiches, warm savories and scones with lashing of clotted cream and jam. A lovely pot of tea with additional hot water to top up and attentive staff. The hotel is in fantastic grounds and has...a lovely old charm to it. I thoroughly recommend it.More

Lovely meal last night at Ravenwood. The setting is beautiful and the food was great. I had the steak which was perfect, my wife had the panacotta which she said was amazing. To top it off Sami the manager is very attentive, funny and great...front of house. Well done all.More

We visited Ravenwood Hall for afternoon tea to celebrate my grandma’s 80th birthday and we were warmly greeted and had excellent service throughout. A special shoutout to Sami for his attentive service and especially when I asked him to take a group photo of us!...All round a lovely experience and we would 100% go back again to try some more food and sit in the lovely grounds! Thank you.More

This hotel has changed hands and is now part of a hotel group. We decided to try the restaurant, we visited with no booking and were made to feel welcome, we tried the sea bass and chicken, both meals were cooked perfectly and complimented with...potatoes, glazed carrots and tender stem broccoli, the vegetables were just right, not too soft. This restaurant caters for gluten free , we would certainly eat here again.More

Felt like a step back in time into hushed draperies , carpets, armour on the walls, formal tablecloths. No other diners but this decor made a pleasant background, where we might have felt exposed in trendy echoey Skandi bareness! Limited hotel type menu but everything...was good to eat, waiting pleasant and helpful, we had an excellent evening.More

My wife and I very much enjoyed our Sunday lunch at Ravenwood Hall celebrating my wife's birthday. The food was excellent, whilst the staff were very wellcoming. Lovely old building with lots of character in a nice wooded setting. Will certainly be back.

Disappointed in the selection and amount of food not enough sausage rolls and other items to go round. Vegetarian food specially requested was layed in with other food and expected more than scones i could have brought in a supermarket. After booking to celebrate a...colleagues retirement expected something a little more special. Very slow and poor service had to wait a long time for food and drinks. Won't be visiting again.More

Evening started well. Nice ambiance, roaring fire, lovely looking Valentines menu £35.99ph. We were 2nd couple to arrive at 6:30. Slightly wilted rose with thorns on arrival. Baked Camembert to share - nice but uncooked in Centre. ‘Rosemary baguette’ was a cut up plain bagel…....! Salmon blinis and sorbet - very nice (see pic) also nice timing between courses at this point. Feather blade of beef - lovely. Asked for extra sauce and was given gravy but still very good. Risotto was undercooked but ok. By this point we had been in the restaurant 1.5 hours which is fine for a relaxed meal. From here the evening became increasingly frustrating. Tried to get a second wine from a very surprised waiter. This took 20 minutes to arrive, which meant I had eaten my main course when it came. Finished mains at 8:15 and it took an hour for someone to approach the table and clear our plates. A further 20 minutes for dessert to arrive; it was the wrong order for my partner, so we shared one dessert for a while. There were no raisins in the apple tart as advertised (and it was apple pie not tart) but it was still good. The chocolate delice was very underwhelming. After a further 20 minutes and noone had cleared our plates. I went to the bar and said we had to leave (9.55) and was offered hot drinks and the promised homemade fudge immediately. (We are now the last but one table in the restaurant). Tea came with hot milk (!) and no fudge which I then asked for. A chopped up delice was brought out as the ‘fudge’ (see pic). We complained and to their credit our drinks were knocked off the bill. Staff illness was cited - However, this was very poorly managed as we could see staff chatting in bar area throughout the evening - and during the entire 3 hours no one asked us if we / the food was ok; or asked whether we wanted more drinks. Left at 10:10 the last guests to leave. Would not recommend!More

We just used the dining facilities as we are reasonably local. We have been coming here for over 20 years for the wonderful food. It has not always been great and there was a not-so-good period a few years ago but glad to say that..."Normal service has been resumed". It's well worth a visit to enjoy the set menu at the moment. 3 courses for £23 which you'd struggle to find in a pub. We have been twice in the last couple of weeks and the menu was different (some repeats) both times. Fantastic mushroom soup. Amazing whitebait too. Generous and tasty steak pie. Chicken supreme and gammon also generous and tasty. Service as you'd expect. Some people find the decor tired but we are used to it and it's homely and always has been. Do give it a try if you have not been before and while you have the chance to enjoy the current offer. Even when that's over there have always been affordable and delicious choices so let's hope that continues.More

There was Mac & Cheese on the menu, which didn't have many options at all; they seem to have gone to a basic pub food menu - fish and chips, burger and chips, mac and cheese etc.
