Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

For a place that's listed as a steakhouse, this place has dynamite catfish! Absolutely love the fish here, but that shouldn't keep you from trying the other items on the menu, they have lots of excellent options, and I've always been happy with my food.

This is a good family place and the food id always good. I try different things to see what they taste like. I live locally and would rather eat here than to travel an hour to eat at some chain place. Get there early so...you can get the sides. They are so popular sometimes they run out.More

This was our first time at this beloved local spot. We ordered several menu items & it is pretty much a fried affair type of restaurant. Masks were "worn", although in a variety of chin, below nose etc... styles. If you are needing proper mask...wearing staff look elsewhere. The service was great and the place was packed on a Thursday. The batter on the catfish was light & crispy, flaky & sweet. The tartar sauce served was amazing as well. We also recommend the saltiest fried pickles we'd ever tasted. Delicious and thirst inducing!! I would pass on the fries - they taste like Ore-Ida from the frozen bag. Also I wasn't crazy about the chocolate pie with merengue topping. The crust tasted store bought & meringue was saccharine sweet. The inside of the pie was actually tasty. The prices are very reasonable. I didn't venture into the restroom, but I was told by my fellow traveler that the men's room was "disgusting".....More

We visited here while in the area celebrating our anniversary and a friend recommended it. It was a great dining experience all the way around. Since this is primarily a food review let me start with that. I had read so many positive reviews about...the catfish I had to give it a try. I really like good catfish. I’ve traveled all over the southeast for my work and have eaten a lot of good catfish. Some from well known catfish houses and some from little mom and pop places with in between mixed in. I honestly have to say I think this is the best I’ve ever had. Good quality fish, nice big filets, and cooked perfectly crispy with no oily mess. Well done. My wife had the hamburger steak. She said it was great. The atmosphere is a small friendly place with a lot of heart. I think I should mention that name of the place may be a little misleading. It’s called a steakhouse but it’s not your typical steakhouse where you walk and smell the beef sizzling on the grill. They do have a ribeye on the menu but they also a good variety of other dishes on.the menu. Everything we had tasted fresh and made there. It didn’t taste like restaurant supply food off the truck. Finally our server Sarah was absolutely awesome. She was friendly, funny and 100% on the ball. Good job Sarah. I live a couple hours away, but will definitely be back.More

My sister and I were staying at the KOA for the weekend and wanted to eat supper before we went to our cabin. We got there around 5:30, it was busy but we only had a 5 minute wait. We sat at the tiniest table...I've ever seen, but we made do. My sister ordered the fried catfish with a double baked potato and I got the grilled catfish with a side salad and a baked potato. We failed to see the tiny boards with the extra vegetables listed (those not on the menu) until after we ordered, which was a bummer. I asked our waitress if there were any specials, which was no, but she failed to tell us about the extras on the wall board but I did hear her tell the next table about them. The place is nothing fancy, in fact it's kinda dirty, there was a big blob of catsup next to my chair and several French fries under the table. I guess they are so busy they can't sweep. The price was fantastic also. All in all, I would go back again. Service was fast and friendly!More

My first time visit to Coes, won't be my last. Easiest way to write review is, great food, courteous service, reasonable price. Don't take my word for it, try it yourself.

We've been here a year now but this is the first time we tried coe's. The fish was fresh, hot, lightly breaded. The cole slaw was really good and the prices are very fair. They had a busy night and a lot of takeouts too. give them...a try, you'll be happy you did.More

I feel bad writing this after being drawn to this place and reading all the amazing reviews. But gosh, this was BAD. The catfish tasted like absolute nothing, the greens were cooked to death and unseasoned, the mashed potatoes had horrible consistency and guess what,...no seasoning. Salt was missed in EVERYTHING. 2 stars because service was good and the iced tea was good as well.More

Given all the happy campers reporting on the wonderful catfish, it must be us. My husband had the large portion of catfish, 5 pieces, home fried potatoes, and cole slaw. The fish was cooked TO DEATH, the cole slaw delicious (and I'm sure was not...homemade), and the potatoes arrived at the table midway through our meal. I had crab cakes, which were quite good but also cooked to death, fries (clearly out of a bag), and cole slaw. Two drinks. $26 plus tip. We drove an hour and then waited 45 minutes for them to open, not realizing they are in the central time zone. Had we to do it over again we would have gone to Applebee's near home. It was very disappointing. Servers were very friendly and at the same time rude, and would cut in front of customers without excusing themselves. The place is a beehive of activity and everything moves quickly, as did we when it was time to leave. First-timers and last-timers all in one quick trip.More

They are FAMOUS for the cat fish. But, not being a fan of cat fish I ordered the hamburger steak. However it was VERY over cooked, it took forever to get my for. (Customers that came in 5 minutes after me, received their food before...me) As a cook myself, I was VERY disappointed 😞More
