We went to Sammy's as we hear that they are known as one of the best places to go for a Crawfish broil. It is early in the season so we didn't know quite what to expect but we were not disappointed. Got 5 pounds of fresh boiled Crawfish and they were consumed in a minute. Gumbo was great as... More

I began eating at Sammy's when they first opened, back in the mid-80s, and have been a regular ever since ... The food is excellent and the service is great. Their fried foods - chicken, fish, shrimp, oysters - are all very tasty, as is their Gumbo. My favorite dish is the heart-healthy chicken plate, which is inexpensive and delicious,... More

This is a nice casual place to have a beer and crawfish, the rest of the food is not bad but no dish stands out. I don't think this place wants to be more than what it is, a nice spot to stop, watch the game and relax with some typical food offerings.

The food is good South Louisiana cooking. Always have crawfish in season. There is a front porch gathering/waiting area. The parking lot is always full, but there is a lot of space in the back. I am older and retired and would have rated it a 5, but it is noisy and difficult to carry on conversation.

Always enjoy going to Sammy's ... during crawfish season, go early as everyone in Baton Rouge is there! Enjoy fried catfish, shrimp - everything is good!

I know for a fact... food is watered down and many times reheated over and over. Before eating ANY food there OBSERVE it for spoilage, dirt, hair, fingernail polish, etc.

Sammy's is a good place for a good meal with good service. Definitely start with the Coach's Plate as an appetizer. It includes grilled chicken, grilled sausage, cheese, pickles and tomatoes. Enough for 4-5. Gumbo is good as is the fried seafood offerings. For sandwiches, one of our favorites is the prime rib po-boy. If you enjoy Bloody Mary's the... More

Food was good and people were kind to us. I ordered a blackened fish of the day (unfortunately I don't rememember which fish it was) and it was delicious. I was indecisive about a side course and the waitress was so kind to bring me a very small portion to taste it before ordering!

I asked several friends where to get great boiled crawfish in Baton Rouge. Unanimously, they all told me Sammy's on Highland. I took my son there for dinner. We started with the fried alligator tenders. They arrived at the table golden and hot. The alligator was delicious. We then ordered 5 pounds of boiled crawfish to split between us. It... More

I truly like this place and I enjoy their crawfish when in season. I think that they have great wings and their cheese logs are enough for three. The highland located is near me, but exiting out of the parking lot can be dangerous. But I truly recommend this restaurant.
