Had a visit as a wee mid-pandemic birthday treat with my family.
On arrival, we had to wait outside to be let in, and there seemed no way to let staff know we were there (perhaps there's CCTV, I didn't notice any). We weren't left hanging about too long, but we were getting a bit confused as to whether we should knock or not!
All staff wore masks and explained the one way system. Menus looked to be wipe-clean. Where we sat, there was a couple within 1m distance sitting behind me, our chairs were pretty much back to back, which felt a bit close, but as we were back to back I guess it was ok.
I had the £15 steak night Sirloin steak with fries, mushrooms and onion rings, our son had the fish and chips. Everything was cooked well (always a pleasure when a medium-rare steak comes just right). Staff were attentive and friendly.
There was a lovely wee dog wandering about (called Pepper I believe), and was noticed sitting staring at diners at one point. Didn't bother us of course, but others might not feel it appropriate for a restaurant environment).
All in all a decent experience, good staff, nice food.

Stopped here on the off chance after a sunday shopping trip in Kirkcaldy. We hadn't booked but managed to get a table. Staff were excellent, really good service. Menu was limited due to SD but the food was really good, we all enjoyed it and very reasonably priced. Will certainly be back.

Its been a while since we've been to the Upper Largo and it had just reopened for business since lockdown. The menu was not as expansive as before but given the times we are in perfectly understandable. There was enough for my wife and I to choose from.
Being Sunday I went for the Sunday roast. Delicious. The beef was so tender, the vegetables perfect and the roast potatoes perfect. The fried battered haddock my wife had was beautifully done. I had a bit. Light crispy batter and the flesh cooked exactly. She tells me the chips were excellent.
Full marks. A nice repast and well worth the visit. Very reasonably priced too.

We wanted a table outside but it was 10 past 5 and they don’t serve meals outside after 5. There was no sign to advise this. We went in to the bar where the tables are close together and there are no windows or doors open to allow ventilation. I don’t understand why during these times, food can’t be served outdoors until the restaurant stops serving. We felt very uncomfortable and basically ate and left. Food is always nice but we left as quickly as possible.

We visited on a mid-week afternoon and were welcomed into the spacious and comfortable restaurant. Our table was in the conservatory and was pleasantly decorated for the Christmas season. Drink orders were taken quickly and promptly delivered. I ordered the Breaded Wholetail Scampi with Skin-On-Skinny Fries, Tartare Sauce, and Garden Peas. A generous portion and really enjoyable. My wife ordered the Stir Fried Duck with Black Bean & Plum Sauce, Sesame Noodles, Vegetables and Prawn Crackers. Sadly the duck was tough and virtually inedible. The waitress offered an alternative, but my wife was enjoying all the other components of the dish. Without prompting, the dish was taken off our bill. Well done. Deserts were chosen from the Christmas Dinner menu and my Chocolate Fudge Yule Log with Chocolate Sauce and Vanilla Ice Cream was very satisfactory. My wife was less fortunate with her Christmas Pudding and Brandy Sauce. It came with custard instead of sauce. The waitress suggested it was brandy flavoured custard! She still enjoyed the course as the custard was faultless. We must praise the quality of the service throughout our visit and the front of house staff are to be congratulated on their friendliness and efficiency. We will return, and hopefully have a better experience with the menu.

Previously visited this establishment about 30 years ago and the food and service were first class +. Visited again on Saturday evening and was extremely disappointed. Obviously menu was restricted due to Virus. I ordered burger with coleslaw, salad and chips. Everything fine until I picked amongst the salad to find the iceberg lettuce leaves were tinged brown. Mentioned to waitress. At end of meal asked if we'd enjoyed meal and I expressed my concerns about salad which I left on plate. No response from waitress, or other staff. So we left. And won't be going back.

Stayed here with my husband and 12 year old son whilst visiting friends in Lower Largo. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly without exception. Service was great. Our rooms (two twins) were spotlessly clean, warm, comfortable and quiet. Plenty of extra towels, pillows, blankets in each room. Lovely set of Molton Brown mini toiletries which was a wow factor (2x shower gel, 2x shampoo, 2x conditioner & 2xbody lotion in each room). Great showers. Breakfast was a real treat with and the porridge with berry compote on top and white chocolate at the bottom was superb. Full cooked breakfasts were delicious with perfect crispy bacon and local sausages. Another wow factor was 2 half litre jugs of apple and orange juice on our table, rather than the usual tiny glasses of juice in many hotels. The lovely restaurant looks out to sea so views are lovely. The bill for our stay was more than reasonable and tbh I would’ve been happy to pay more. All in all a wee gem of a hotel in a beautiful area. I not hesitate to recommend.

This establishment is on the main road as you drive through Upper Largo and many is the times I have glanced at it , then drove past . However this time my partner and I thought that we should try it out and what a treasure it proved to be . Lovely friendly service from the staff and nothing was to much trouble . We booked an inside table and wallowed in the extensive menu , way to much choice . Haggis fritters were shared this time and the taste was pretty good . A large glass of vino was served chilled to perfection closely followed by the fish with risotto . It truly was a fantastic choice by both of us , herself couldn't quite finish it off but I manfully managed , just . After a wee break to recover the Pavlova and Coconut Tart followed on . Nectar , both of them , just sheer nectar . What is there not to like . Cheerful staff , well spaced apart tables with excellent food

We booked this Hotel for a meal on Saturday night. The booking was for six people as it was a catch up from us all living in various locations in Scotland. When we arrived at the restaurant the waitress split the group up and sat us at two different tables. we informed her we were not happy as we all wanted to sit together. The waitress said that due to the Covid rules we were not allowed to sit together. My Husband and I have eaten in quite a few places during the last few months and this has not been the case. If we had been told this when we made the booking we would have gone somewhwere else.

Booked a table for 2 to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary and we were very disappointed after reading all the positive reviews. Staff were very friendly on arrival and were very quick to get us seated and take our drinks order. The menu looked fantastic and I ordered the Seafood Caesar salad and the posh Mac n Cheese while my wife opted for the Lobster Bisque and the Fish n Chips. My salad was extremely disappointing as it was nothing like described on the menu. I was expecting a Caesar salad and I received a garden salad with some kind of Caesar dressing. I’ve never had a Caesar salad with onions, carrots, cucumber and mixed leaves before, and none of this was in the description on the menu. Spoiled what should have been a great meal. When my main meal arrived there was no forks on our table so we asked for fork, and after 10 mins waiting my wife had to get up and ask another member of staff if we could have a fork. We left without having dessert very dissatisfied with our dining experience.

Went with friends in a party of five. Service was friendly and efficient. Main courses were tasty and enjoyed by everyone. We were presented with the dessert menu and two ordered the Dark Chocolate & Coconut Tart with Coconut ice cream. However, when it came it had chocolate ice cream and the tart was full of chopped nuts which one of our party can't eat. When we asked the waitress about the nuts not being mentioned on the dessert description on the menu she checked with the chef. He confirmed it was indeed nuts. And when we asked about the chocolate ice cream we were told that they hadn't been able to source coconut flavoured ice cream for a while now so substituted chocolate instead. Forehand mention of this and the inclusion of nuts would've been welcome when ordering.
I've yet to see any traces of coconut whatsoever in this dish either in the tart or ice cream.
Luckily my friend isn't allergic to nuts or it could've been a different story. She just can't eat them.
So the dessert was wasted and no discount offered.
Not satisfactory customer service in my opinion.
May I suggest you either change the description of the dessert to reflect the ingredients or warn customers that they will not receive the item advertised and take your chances if you have a nut allergy or intolerance.

Visited today with my wife for lunch. We had a fantastic time. The staff were very friendly and adhered to all the current covid regulations. They made the whole experience a joy. The food was fantastic. I had soup to start which was delicious and my wife had crab and salmon fish cakes which she said were great. The main I had was breaded fish with chips and mushy peas which went down a treat. My wife had the posh mac and cheese which had bacon and langostines through it and it was amazing. The portions are very generous and my wife struggled to finish hers, but don't worry, no food was wasted. I helped her out lol. I would definitely recommend the Upper Largo to anyone and will definitely be back.

Called in midweek and had delicious game pie off the specials board, wife had chicken in a basket which was also very tasty. Service was excellent with table checks at the right time and washed down with a very reasonably priced bottle of wine. Will definitely return when in the area.

Just home from a brilliant staycation at the Upper LargoHotel And Restaurant.
As lovers of the East Neuk Of Fife, we have driven past this hotel countless times and never thought to stop, now we know what we have been missing!
Our room, while quite small, was cosy, clean and comfortable and had everything we required including tea and coffee making facilities, a very comfortable bed and a good shower.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the covid 19 restrictions were applied perfectly. The staff have obviously put a lot of effort into continuing to run the business as efficiently as possible during the pandemic and deserve great credit for their efforts.
Last, but definitely not least, the food - FANTASTIC!. Brilliant breakfasts and a wonderful varied menu including several local seafood specials, all, perfectly cooked and presented and very well received! We usually make a point of visiting a variety of restaurants when we are on holiday. However, after our first meal in the Upper Largo Hotel & Restaurant we decided that it could not be bettered and decided to dine here every evening - great decision!.
Thanks to all concerned for a great staycation.

Nice place to visit and staff helpful and welcoming for our lunchtime visit. Nice open restaurant and was sat in conservatory window that was clean, not sticky like our previous place we had tried on same day. Not cramped for space. Menu choice was good and reasonable priced. My wife had scampi and I ordered reasonably priced Lobster with sheeted and bacon chips. My wife’s meal was good and mine looked great but the lobster, albeit looked great was not. It was rubbery and almost inedible. The cheese chips and bacon was too heavily loaded with cheese that in my opinion was not to my taste. It congealed basically to a solid lump and you had to cut and eat with a knife and fork.
Lobster cooking, I would have thought was something, in this locality especially, would take pride in cooking. Either frozen and blasted in microwave or just overcooked but I suspect the former might be the truth.
I did mention to the staff on being asked f meal was ok and they showed empathy but nothing else. Pity as I so looked forward to my lobster first I had since Caribbean cruise 10+ years ago.
I would go back but would leave lobster in the freezer and order something else.
