Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Milbrook is not very gluten free friendly. One of the staff didn’t have a clue and the other it was a nuisance. You have to pay extra if you want hash browns even if you can’t have the non gluten free sausages. Not the best...place in this area for gluten free people.More

I agree with a lot of reviewers, this has gone down ever since the cafe moved elsewhere and now looks like a canteen. I used to love going to the old one although it was overpriced already then. Even this review page comes up with...a picture of a drab training centre with tables as their only advertisement? Come on. You can do better. With all the plants available?!More

We visit the cafe often as it makes a very good meeting place with of course the bonus of nice cake and fabulous plants. Today was not a good day to go as they are having some work on the buliding. My goodness was it noisy!...They were working on the roof right above our heads made it almost impossible to hear ourselves talk. Anyway we did call the manager over who we have to say was very opologetic after listerning to our moaning he offered us a complimentary drink which we accepted .Julie who served us again said how sorry she was which was a lovely way for them to address our complaint . Will go again but may wait until the work is completed.More

We go to this useful cafe quite often with an elderly relative. We enjoy the food and the staff are pleasant. It is a bit complicated queuing for food at various points but never a problem as one of us queues and the the other...gets the elderly relative seated. Plenty of space for her walker near the table, which is a plus. One "problem" - and I did contact Millbrooks Garden Centre about this in January but did not receive any reply - in order for a 90+ year old, or a disabled person, or someone less able in some way to get to the Cafe they are forced to navigate a sort of maze of wooden tables where lovely plants are for sale - there is no short cut from the back door of the garden centre to the cafe. My relative, with her walker, has to walk around the maze, when walking in a straight line and then turning left to the cafe would save a lot of physical effort. After navigating all that the less able are forced out into the open in all weathers for a walk to the slope that leads into the cafe - able-bodied users can use the handy steps to get there quicker!! Mad design. Not good in bad weather. I asked staff on a previous visit whether we could just leave the cafe by a different set of doors nearer to the disabled parking spaces in the car park and was told that the doors are not in use! So simple to sort this problem. It won't lead to a drop in sales of plants as what I do is to pop off once we have finished eating so that I can find plants whilst my relative has a nice sit down with her coffee. I did see wheelchairs that could be borrowed on a previous visit, but not everyone likes to be pushed about and I did not see them on this visit. So I would say "yes" come for the food and the convenience and the cleanliness and the very nice loos but if you have mobility problems come on a day when you feel up to the walk (not far for the able-bodied but tiring for those less so) and it is not raining. The garden centre is lovely and has lots of useful items and lovely plants. Well worth a visit.More

A group of six of us were in the garden centre planning a proposed landscaping job for the family. One of the group said the cafe made great cake so we stopped shopping and had a light snack. There was a good range of cakes,...sandwiches, scones and biscuits. We noted there was breakfast available (this was 11:00am), the pot of tea and various coffees were also of good quality. We were pleasantly surprised at the range and quality for a garden centre.More

We have always enjoyed the nice cafe and although there have been past hicups we still go back.Obvouisly thing have had to change due to Covid 19. i cant work out why we can no longer have a pot of tea. The reason given was...to cut down on extra handling which I kind of get but in that case why cant the tea pots be placed where the self service mugs are and we can make our own. Seems simple to me. Also find it frustrating that its card only. When did cash not be legal tender! Maybe someone forgot to tell me!More

*This review was originally (and mistakenly) posted against the old Green Cafe account.* On 1 September we booked out the function room at the Mill cafe for my son's Naming Day. In the run up to the event, Caron was an absolute star. Nothing was...too much trouble and she made a lot of helpful suggestions to ensure the space was used to it's full potential. The space itself is great - light and airy and would be excellent for any kind of event. We had 40 guests and there was ample room for them to sit down and enjoy an afternoon tea once the official bit was over with. On the day itself, I cannot praise Caron and her team enough for their help and professionalism and everything went incredibly smoothly. The food was delicious (the scones are amazing!) and we had so many compliments from the guests about how lovely the afternoon had been. Caron even helped facilitate the children visiting the butterfly exhibit within the garden centre - she was a godsend!More

My main issue is the tea and it lost a mark simply because the previous place in the garden centre main room itself use to serve tea in better teapots and supply better cups. I tend to go for the self service mugs now as...a result of the fact that I do not like the teapots !!!!!! Harsh but its just my opinion. Its not cheap but on the other hand its not expensive either. This new restaurant has a lot more room and the toilets are far superior to the individual one that use to serve everybody !!!! It is a great deal more comfortable and I cannot stress this enough; although if it is raining - you have to go outside to access it once entering Millbrooks. However there are Umbrellas. There are various rooms and there is always a quiet spot. There are also outdoor tables and chairs now which is great when the Spring/Summer/Autumn months are with us.More

Visited as a birthday/Christmas treat with a friend, staff were welcoming and showed us to the table. Beautifully set out and arranged for pots of tea to brought over. Within 5 minutes the cake stand arrived fully laden with sandwiches, scones and cakes. Staff were...excellent and ensured tea was suitably topped up and everything was ok. The scones were warm, huge and so tasty! We were advised that there were boxes available should we wish to take anything home. Such a great spread we both took a piece of cake and mince pie home for later. Excellent value and staff made us feel welcome and special too.More

I visited with my cousins yesterday, we were totally spoiled by Mel, Shara and Caron, nothing was too much trouble for them, they were so attentive. The tea was huge and delightful, though thoughtfully were were provided with takeaway boxes...my tip would be to enjoy...the sandwiches, but hold fire on the delicious sausage rolls (I enjoyed mine later in the evening!), so as to allow room for the delights to follow - scones, jam and cream, cake, mince pies and trifle! All beautifully presented.More

A friend and I booked to have Christmas Afternoon Tea here after previously having an excellent lunch. We were not disappointed. The service was friendly, attentive but not overbearing. Our table was laid out beautifully including a green bottle of elderflower presse which was included...in out Tea, we were also told we could take it home if we didn’t want or finish it. We both had coffee and when I went up and paid for another later on Caron, our waitress, apologised for not replenishing our drinks and promptly gave me a refund and then brought the coffee to our table! The tea itself was delicious and very generous in size, when Caron noticed we were struggling she promptly brought us take away boxes so we could enjoy the rest at home. The whole experience was excellent and we were never rushed to leave. Thank you Caron for making our regular Christmas get together so enjoyable. We will return for more lunches and of course Tea at The Mill.More

Hi Thank you for your question. Vegetable options can be swapped for other vegetables, so tomatoes can be swapped for hash brown, for example. Hope that helps!
