I booked a table for 4 at 1.30pm. On arrival was informed they were running 30 minutes late. At 2.40 I asked about our order and was told it would be another 25 minutes. We then walked out to get something to eat elsewhere. There were no apologies for the dreadful service. I will never go again

Made to feel welcome. Meals were obviously home cooked and tasty. Not very busy when we were in there but good service. Nice drop of Sussex bitter too. Doggy friendly as well. Lovely views out to sea from behind the car park. We will bear this pub in mind for the future. Thank you.

Nice looking venue, plenty of parking, friendly staff. Seems to lack atmosphere and patrons which is a shame really as used to be the place to be many years ago when we had to jostle for a place at the bar.

Had Sunday roast here today and I have to say it was 100% better than its nearby rival the Smugglers Rest, where i resently had a terrible meal with friends. At the at the Traven today all the food was home cooked with a great choice and a vegi roast on offer too. Huge home made Yorkshire puds too I... More

I had Sunday lunch here today - it was a group booking with 19 of us. We were all served our food pretty much at the same time and the food was good. I'd come back again. Thank you Luke!

The Tavern: Very modern and welcoming, recommend for families or just a drink at the bar, parking facilities available and with a warm open fire. Overall a very nice pub!

The food is extremely poor & overpriced. Vegetables were boiled to death & broccoli & cabbage brown. Fish pie tasteless & came in a bowl on a board with bowl of vegetables to share. Had to ask for a plate to eat off & cutlery, food only warm. Would avoid eating here!
