Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I'm not that type of person who leaves reviews and comments, but I was encouraged by my friends to leave one. This was our first visit at Wellington Arms. We were extremely impressed with the service and food. The young lady who served us was...phenomenal. Service was quick, with a smile. Food was superb and the sirloin is to die for. We will definitely be back again, I think we have a new favourite for our Sunday lunch meetings.More

We were the only people in the restaurant. Waited forever to get noticed, had to look for staff to take our order for 25 minutes. They were rude and horrible with extremely poor attitude. And on top of this tragedy they dared to ask us...extra service fee. What a joke. This place is going down the hill. Huge prices but worse than mediocre food and you get treated like dirt. They obviously never heard of fresh food, great customer service, just arrogance and passive aggressive behaviour. Management clearly clueless about hiring adequate staff.More

We go out for breakfast quite often especially if we have people visiting. We only booked here as our usual places were fully booked, I’m so pleased they were as this has just become our favourite. The service from Eva was superb, very attentive without...being intrusive. The food was so good especially the bacon, you can tell everything is freshly prepared. Thank you to Eva and the chefs for a lovely experience, we will be back.More

Although I drive by many times, only today I popped in for lunch. The place deserves all the good words. The lunch was delicious, the service impeccable, the restaurant very clean and pet friendly. Eva was our waitress today and she is a lovely person,...kind, patient, always smiling. Enjoyed the whole experience and definitely recommend this place for a place to eat.More

Sunday lunch at the Wellington was a new experience. A few bits overlooked, asked for lemons slices, none arrived. Sunday lunch was presented with vegetables and side but sadly no gravy nor asked if we would like any condiments as staff seemed rushed. When raised...with another member of staff, quickly rectified. Vegetables in skillet were luke warm but tasty. Table near by ordered a cheeseburger, sadly it arrived minus cheese. All in all delicious roast which could be even better with a few tweaks.More

Lovely location, however service and food doesn’t match. The venue doesn’t know whether it’s a hotel restaurant, bistro or pub. The food is below average for quality and cost therefore not good value compared with alternative local establishments.

We hired the private dining area (Wellsley) Sunday 7th Jan for a 90th Birthday. They allowed us to decorate the room how we liked and the staff were really attentive to ensure everyone had a good time. Eva our waitress was so lovely and could...not do enough for us. They made a Lemon dessert especially for the birthday Girl which was not on the menu which was a lovely touch and made very personal.More

Called in without a booking for breakfast, the host, Eva, was so friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and even though it was obviously freshly cooked arrived quickly, my Mum was delighted to have a proper line napkin. Would definitely recommend

We booked the Wellington Arms for a late lunch/early dinner for New Year's day with the family to celebrate 2 birthdays. I'd heard good things and often drive past but never been in. Arrival was friendly and we had a lovely long table and weren't...crammed in. Service was fairly quick to start with, but our server had either been out the night before for New Year's eve or was having an off day as we didn't get much of a smile the whole time. It was a Sunday lunch menu and the whole family enjoyed what we ordered especially the lovely mushroom risotto and the chips and potatoes were great. I was disappointed that some of the basics for the puddings were out which meant half of us didn't get to order pudding. We also got charged for a pudding that we didn't get and when they brought out the wrong flavour ice-cream made us feel that we were the ones that made the mistake and then charged us anyway. As lovely as the food was, I won't be rushing back unfortunately which is a shame as there were some lovely bits about it.More

What a wonderful Christmas day experience. Our waitress was so friendly. The food was delicious! The little canapés were delightful. Our favourites were the beef and whipped blue cheese with truffle honey. My starter scallops were some of the best I have ever eaten. The...soup was also good. The turkey main was delicious with all the trimmings scrumptious. The only thing I wasn't keen on were the crispy sprouts. Choux bun for desert was light and tasty, and the Christmas pudding was perfect. The rooms here are so comfy, and we have had a wonderful Christmas day thank you The Wellington arms!More

This was the 2nd year coming on Christmas Eve and we won’t be coming again… Booked the Festive Menu and was disappointed from the time we arrived!! No crackers, drinks order was slow and initially incorrect, despite being the first arrivals of the day they’d...run out of tomato soup for my son, but the most disappointing was the over cooked 8hr slow cooked beef bourguignon… How this can be so over cooked that the meat was dry and tough I’m not sure!!! … We did however get a significant discount off our bill but the experience was still disappointing and won’t be visiting next year!!More
