Stopped for lunch after a swamp tour. What a delight! Nice building with view of the swamp through floor-to-ceiling windows. Food was good, nicely presented with large portions. Service was attentive and helpful.

I’ve gone to des Familles since I was a child. It’s a wonderful place and the food has been consistently delicious over the years. The food is well seasoned, cooked to perfection, and served promptly with a friendly smile.

We purposely left early from the French Quarter for our airboat ride to explore different experiences. At first glance the restaurant is easy to miss given the signing, but the full parking lot indicated further exploration was warranted. We weren’t disappointed. The beautifully appointed, but...More

Went here after our swamp tour. Very fresh shrimp and oysters. Lots of fried options. I’d avoid the pasta - it was a bit mushy and the pecan pie was not good - it had a raw piece of dough in the middle of it....More

I had the full, complete, seafood platter with everything. The platter was enough to feed two people. The seafood was fresh and tasty like it was just out of the water. We sat at a window and the scenery was beautiful.I totally enjoyed the food...More

Lovely place about a 25 minute drive outside of New Orleans. The ceiling to floor windows over looking the bayou was memorable, sadly the food was good but forgettable and the service was uneven. Next time I am in New Orleans I will try this...More

Bayou des Familles, a lazy waterway home to many alligators, turtles, egrets and other wildlife, takes center stage as our restaurant's design provides its diners with a natural picture show. It's in this setting where friends and family unite to experience southern Louisiana charm and culture in its finest form. It's an experience your friends and family will not soon forget. The 17-mile journey from downtown New Orleans will take you through the Jean Lafitte National Park. You'll arrive at Restaurant des Familles and park under moss-filled century old oak trees. The restaurant's Acadian-style architecture provides a glimpse of bayou life that once was. Our menu features authentic representations of Cajun and Creole favorites such as Crawfish Etouffee, Seafood & Okra Gumbo, Grilled Redfish and Turtle Soup. Our signature dish, Alligator Stuffed Mushrooms with Alligator Sauce Piquant will tempt even the most timid diner. We look forward to your visit.
