Ponchatoulas has a good variety to choose from---burgers, fish and seafood, Italian. I'm not into Italian food but I've had their burgers, catfish, and fried shrimp---also onion rings. The food was always well cooked and piping hot. Service was really good. Time from order placement to food on the table was reasonable. All in all a pleasant family dining experience.

Great place for some cajun cuisine. Good po boys, red beans and rice, or fried fish platter. Another little gem located in the historic downtown of Ruston near railroad park.

This was our 1st time and it was great. Just the 2 of us and we relaxed the whole time. We ordered several appetizers to try. Great.

We visited on a Friday night we had a 30 minute wait. Once seated and order placed the food arrived shortly. Nice place to watch the game and hang out with family. The food was good.

We went here after a Tech game. Very busy place. Food was really good. I had the stuffed catfish that was topped with crawfish etoufe that was really good. Apparently is a popular place in town.

We were in town for the weekend and decided on Ponchatoulas because it was close to our hotel. It felt more like a Sports bar with tvs on every wall which was nice for us since Alabama and LSU were playing and we did not want to miss the game. It is very casual, but the menu covers anything you... More

This is my second visit to this restaurant in a couple of years. I was glad to see the consistency in food quality, big portions and great service was still there. I love crawfish ettouffe and theirs is one of the better tasting one I've enjoyed. Besides Cajun dishes, there are salads, sandwiches, hamburgers, appetizers and other delicious items such... More

Description
Ponchatoulas was founded in February 1996, by original owner Johnny Gaudet, who then partnered with Chris Garriga in 2004. With a passion for good food and fun, Gaudet opened the restaurant on the bustling Park Avenue in downtown Ruston. The building housed a fire station in the early 1900's, complete with the big red fire truck and even horse-drawn carriages lining the downtown streets. Some years later, the location became a landmark for one of history's music legends, Elvis Presley. Presley recorded in an upstairs studio of the then KRUS radio station. It wasn't until the late 1980's that the building was converted to a restaurant, not much different from the current site. The full-service restaurant offers patrons a wide variety menu that includes appetizers of seafood gumbo, fried mushrooms and boudin balls, as well as from the fryer servings of fried crawfish tails, shrimp, oyster and catfish. Ponchatoulas is famous for their crawfish étouffée, red beans and rice, crab cakes, poboys, and white chocolate bread pudding. Open for lunch and dinner, patrons often come for the free live entertainment and happy hour drink specials. The restaurant's Cajun ambiance will make you feel as though you are sitting in the French Quarter of New Orleans. If you'd rather take that New Orleans feeling home to your dining table, Ponchatoulas makes it easy with heat and serve to go orders.
