Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a place of mixed reviews. Plus side: The staff were lovely and helpful seating us in the restaurant away from a very loud table upon request. We arrived about 3:30 and some of the menu had run out but the food was good...with veggie options. Badger the cat! Negative - a big one Their website is out of date Food is not being served at the times it says. Ring before going to avoid disappointment as people were coming in asking for food and being turned away. The website says no children are allowed in the bar but there were children in the bar when we arrived.More

The only criticism I had for my visit was a Rocky table that needed beer mats under one leg to stop it undulating, about. I had Jeff Sargeant’s 10oz fillet steak, garlic butter, mixed dressed salad & chips £34.50. My wife had a steak ciabatta:...sliced fillet steak, fried onions & garlic butter also with chips and salad £21.95. My wife said how nice it was to get a salad that can be seen as salad of note. Plenty of everything and a smooth salad dressing with just the right amount oil and vinegar. The staff were attentive and efficient, and I enjoyed my stay. A small detail like a unstable table is something that should not have been neglected.More

We used to go to the hare arms a lot but hadn’t been for a while so decided we should go for a birthday meal. On arrival got sat down and ordered drinks. Then ordered three steaks. When they came out you could barely cut...them and chewing them was another story. We told this to waitress and they said they would redo the meal. After 1 and half hours since arriving our food had still not come out. Eventually it came and was worse than when we sent it back the first time. We told the waitress and showed that you could not cut the steak. The owner overheard this and began to get agitated. We explained what happened and she raised her voice and began getting angry. It was very defensive with no compassion for what had happened she was not interested in listening to what awful food we had been served. On a birthday we ended up getting a Mcdonald’s. We all used to love the hare arms but can honestly say we will not be going back after the attitude the land lady showed us!!More

Sad.... looking plate of food 😞 I never done at McDonald's,but after dinning at the Hare Arms...it's an attractive proposition!!! I had the sirloin steak it arrived on a cold plate with a sad, limp under seasoned potato cake which looked like a findas fish cake...with half the flavour !!!and two very skeletal looking broccoli stems at the princely sum of £24.95 it was such a disappointment. When discussed with the self styled owner that she had compliments abound...where they were hiding I don't know because they obviously don't live five star at home!! By the way.. Please don't take a celebration cake as you will be charged and you will have to ask for a knife and plates!!!More

We visited The Hare Arms this afternoon with family, including children. Between us all we had starters, mains and puddings. EVERYTHING was absolutely delicious! My starter was the prawn and crayfish, huge portion, extremely fresh and tasty. My main was roast beef, it arrived hot,...well presented and was a very generous portion. Other family members had the parfait and black pudding to start and the pork for main. Both were equally happy. Both children had the roast beef and pudding, they ate the lot! Staff warm and friendly. We’ll definitely be returning.More

This pub used to be lovely with white tablecloths and delicious food. That was probably 10 years ago. We were sad to see it so much changed - our lunch was poor - the tables in the garden were old cracked and the garden poorly...kept. VERY basic pub in a lovely village - could be vastly improved.More

Terrible and rude - Saturday night served us a a second drink and then 2 minutes later said they were closing an hour early and that we had to leave - reason given was that it was two expensive to keep the lights on for...just a few people and that the staff wanted to go home. We had to leave without finishing our drinks. We won’t go there again! (This is the first time I’ve ever left a review for anywhere but thought I needed to as we were so disappointed)More

Food very good but no longer a pub. Asked as soon as we entered the door as to whether we had a table booked. Waitress service for all drinks. This is a restaurant located in what used to be a public house. All tables had...reserved signs. A sad demise.More
