This was our second visit to Van Lloyd's bistro, but first since the ownership changed in the past four months. A youg couple (Meredith and Chef ?) now run and own Van Lloyd's and the improvements in the food and decor are obvious. The atmosphere has evolved from eccentric to modern eclectic, with softer and warmer tones on the walls.... More

I loved the way they made healthy foods taste amazing! Very unique decorations as well. And local foods. the scallops I had were so good, and my husband's dish was great, too. We shared a bottle of wine, and found it quiet so we could talk.

We had a delightful dinner of gumbo (perfectly balanced in spice and texture), the charcuterie board, and the cheese slate. The service was outstanding too. Note to self: go back for lunch soon.

Fresh local food creatively prepared. A great choice for the area. If the bignets are on the dessert menu, don't pass them up!

The spouse and I arrived, and were not welcomed with the usual "welcome to..." statement, but instead "Do you have a reservation?", which we did not. Wasn't an issue, but set the mood as not being a laid back place for dining. Nice chilled bottle of water brought to the table, until tasting it... town water with a fluoride taste.... More

Rolls were warm but tasteless, innovative combinations like the salmon ceviche don't quite come together, gin mussels were overcooked and didn't,t seem very fresh and the seared scallops were soggy... the drinks were excellent, the waitresses very friendly. We sat on the terrace with a nice view of the sunset over the water but in the middle of a parking... More

It is a special place and a little different feel then other places in town. Oysters were great and so were the stuffed grape leaves. Got the gin and tonic mussels and they were delicious. Also got the ginger scallops and they were prepared perfectly. Did not have to chew as they melted in your mouth. Fun drink menu and... More

Ok, it's Maine and you have to have the whole lobster, the lobster roll, the lobster martini, but even in Maine there's gotta be more to eating well. At this bistro, there is. Two of us had Salmon topped with thin cucumber slices. It was moist, tasty, just plain good. Two others in our party had seared lamb loin and... More

This small place is tucked away out of sight by a parking lot behind the main street shopping district in tiny Damariscotta. What a gem it turned out to be. Five us went for dinner on a Sunday and tried much of what the sizable menu had to offer. Everyone raved over the appetizers, the main courses and desserts. On... More

We are summer residents in the Damariscotta area for the past 30 years and know the restaurant scene well. Two trips to this bistro make me want to visit again and recommend it. Last night I went alone before a program at the Lincoln Theater and the meal was delightful. I had the special: a lobster and corn fritter with... More
