This restaurant gives you the local flavor of Basque country. The food is very authentic, and reasonably priced. The staff is all business, and efficient, but very friendly. The front bar area is very busy around 2 in the afternoon. We had the menu of the day which included options of stew, fish soup, potato soup, dessert of flan or... More

I went to Gernika to see the Gernika tree museum. I was told by my a cousin that this was the place to eat. The place is for locals, i was frankly disappointed. The baby lamb chops were full of fat and over cooked. The food was bland, the owner took care of us and the service was average and... More

The 10 Euro fixed menu is the only option, but it includes app, main, dessert, bread, water, and wine. The apps were enormous, everything was good (especially the fish soup) but nothing exceptional, Apparently, you are charged the same whether you have a glass, or a bottle of wine. The staff clearly had all worked there forever, we loved the... More

We had an enjoyable lunch at this well known Gernika restaurant. It is a large and very busy establishment which on weekdays generally caters for those looking for an inexpensive fixed lunch menu costing ten euros with three choices for first and second course and a variety for dessert. We had red beans with local sausage followed by fried anchovies... More

Our friend Kepa invited my two friends and their wives from Costa Rica, my wife and I (from Minneapolis) for lunch after visiting the Gernikako Arbola. What a pleasure: the old tradition of the restaurant; the great taste of the basque dishes; the friendly service and the old Euskera language spoken all around us. All in all an experience that... The first monday in October is the annual cattle market show in Guernika. . The town was very busy and this traditional restaurant absolutely heaving.. With some guidance from some locals we got a table at short notice. Despite the crowds the service was friendly very prompt with generous communal traditional dishes and portions.. It seemed to be very heavily... More

My wife and I had lunch here today after visiting the Monday market earlier. I had previously selected this restaurant from reading the TA reviews. The very good food kept us feeling full for a long time. Although the restaurant was nearly full, there was no delay on the service side. The prices must have come down or change from... More

Had dinner here after the drive up from Madrid. Incredibly old fashioned - decor, style and food - nothing here has changed in decades. Croquettas- very good. Mixed salad - huge and full of good stuff. Fried hake in batter - perfect!!! Give it a go.
