I have been to the Five Horseshoes many times and it is always delightful. The latest visit was last Saturday night, a large group of us. Everybody without exception loved their dishes: baked camembert, pigeon breast, mussels, steak, venison, sticky toffee pudding, home made ice creams. Produce are mainly sourced locally, the beer local is excellent and there is a... More

Visited lunchtime between Christmas and New Year and glad we booked a table, very busy. Nice meals in pleasant surroundings. Good service, will go back when less foggy to see the view

Beautiful pub/restaurant in the middle of nowhere, with amazing views across the Chilterns. Always extremely busy, so we were pleased to get a last minute booking on the Thursday after Christmas. We weren't very adventurous with our food selection (three fish and chips please!), but the menu looked pretty good, if a little pricey, and the food itself was fine;... More

This delightful olde world restaurant in the "middle of nowhere" north west of Henley on Thames is one of our favourite places to eat. My wife and I have celebrated several birthdays and anniversaries here. The location is quiet, with the main sound outside being the bleats of the sheep. The atmosphere is homely, especially near the open fire, and... More

This remote pub is well worth finding. We were welcomed (including our dog) and our booked table was near the open fire. Food was good all round (up to excellent from some reports), service friendly and great, we were given space to talk and chat with no pressure from the establishment. The atmosphere was positive without being noisy (apart from... More

Once a month, this great little pub hosts the incredible Rebecca Poole and friends for a Jazz evening with a great supper. Its a fabulous evening, listening to seriously talented musicians whilst enjoying wonderful food. You need to book in good time - its a small venue, but that is its joy. The service and the food at this pub... More

Although it is not that near for either of all of us, it has become our meeting point. Very relaxed with timings, it is very hard to be punctual these days as the traffic is really bad, wherever you go. We arrived slightly delayed , we sat in the bar area with our two dogs, and we had a great... More

Thank you for your review Anastasia. We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your recent visit as much as your previous ones. I have passed your comments on to our team. We are about to have a refurbishment and the Ladies toilets will be included - the pipe work and fittings are quite old now and need a... More

We chose the Five Horseshoes to celebrate three September birthdays having been before and loving the beautiful location. I don't know if we chose a particularly busy Sunday lunchtime but we weren't as lucky as other Trip Advisor reviewers. Two of us chose the smoked salmon. Mistake. The plate was mainly leaves with just a few wisps of salmon. The... More

Hello Lindsay Thanks for your review. I'm sorry to hear you were disappointed with some aspects of your visit. Sunday lunchtimes are always our busiest service. We had to juggle things a bit to accommodate your party of 14 on one table and gave you 3 tables put together by the window. I'm sorry if the table access wasn't ideal... More

Had a lovely lunch here recently. Great choice on menu, friendly welcoming staff and to top it off wonderful views. All four of us couldn't fault the food and endeavour to return very soon.
