Great local place to have lunch and nice coffee shop. They have nice soups and deserts as well. Lady who I think is the owner is very nice and friendly. Right on main St across tidewater motel.

After ten days of sampling some excellent lobster rolls up and down the coast, the most memorable meal of our trip to Maine might be the Downstreet's crab baguette. The crab meat was so fresh, moist and sweet, it needed nothing more than the barest hint of mayo. The fragrant baguette with its crunchy crust, chewy interior and dab of... More

Set in a beautiful piece of local architecture, this place has great coffee and delicious house-baked quiches, pies etc. They also serve artfully constructed sandwiches at lunchtime. The interior is exceptional. It was originally fitted out as a pharmacy, and now all the old wooden cabinets and shelves are stacked with artwork and curiosities. It really is a gorgeous interior,... Fresh, warm blueberry muffins with a cappucino here is the perfect start to the day on Vinalhaven. The breakfast sandwiches on baguette are also incredible. Also good are the quiches and breakfast stratta

Amazing coffee, served in a relaxing, very island-like manner...e.g. you wait until someone talks to you to order. The food is amazing, but you'll pay the price. Glad to pay though - they have free WiFi and the coffee is strong.

Visited several times and the old building is a very cool. The coffee is good as is the food but what sets this place apart from other establishments is that the service is not very good. The proprietor always seems harried, which I suspect she is since it is usually just her running the place. As a result, the waits... More

The atmosphere is the perfect cross between upscale and local haunt. The pastries were fresh, delicious, and well priced. The coffee was roasted to perfection, bold and flavorful!

Stopped in and got an iced coffee during the Independence Day parade. Pretty good! Will be back on our next trip to Vinalhaven!

Downstreet is in Vinalhaven's old apothecary shop, so the walls are lined with what seems like hundreds of wooden drawers. The shelves above them are lined with a truly beautiful collection of teacups. But there was barely time to think about what the present owner might keep in those drawers before the waiter brought our lunch. I'd ordered a "Downstreet... More

Located a short stroll from the ferry landing, this charming, lovely establishment serves phenomenal baked goods and excellent cappuccino. Though I only sampled a couple items, it really was very impressive quality. The decor alone is worth a visit, with plates, glassware and home items all attractively displayed along the walls. The staff of two were handling the (small) crowd... More
