Rock Bottom is a chain, and a big corporate headquarters makes menu decisions and sometimes limits their exceptionally good brewers. That said, the beers definitely vary from location to location and, especially in Bethesda, from year to year. Brewer Geoff Lively is a skilled and experienced professional. Left to his own devices, his beers would range on the sweet side... More

Great late-night happy hour every night at the bar from 10 pm. Friendly bartenders with good camaraderie & sense of humor. Can't beat the pepperoni pizza & the hoppy beer.

This is a nice hangout place during happy hour. The food is good. The staff is courteous, despite the fact that happy hour is usually pretty busy.

Rock Bottom is a bar/restaurant with a good selection of beers on tap. The beers are unique and good. The food is not great however, so I wouldn't make it a place only to eat probably.

Service was very good and the food, although not so unique, was well cooked and served promptly. Because this was a business function, we were able to get a private room in the rear of the restaurant.

Average American pub food, good for picky eaters and those not into more ethnic or adventurous eating

This is similar to other Rock Bottom brewpub around the country. It is centrally located and it is fairly large, with large bars and several sitting sections. It is very popular and often crowded, especially between 5 and 8. The beer is consistently good and it is made on the premises. Usually there are about a dozen drafts to chose.... More

Rock Bottom’s motto used to be something like “Proud of our beer. Crazy about our food.” You don’t see that anymore, and for a reason. It has been sad to see the quality and variety of Rock Bottom’s food deteriorate so much in the last few years. The menu used to feature buffalo fajitas—sizzling strips of buffalo meat with tortillas,... More

Description
Rock Bottom Bethesda is five miles north of DC, just off Wisconsin Avenue at the corner of Norfolk Ave and St. Elmo Ave. Yes, it's a lot of Avenues, but we're totally worth it. Just wait until you take your first sip of an award-winning, handcrafted ale from Brewmaster Geoffrey S. Lively. Not only does the beer speak for itself, but he started at Mile High Brewing...that's right, the Laverne & Shirley brewery. Possibly the best credential ever. And hey, don't forget to check out our recently refreshed menu of made-from-scratch entrees, appetizers, dinner salads, burgers and sandwiches.
