I should preface this by saying I have had really good German food in the past. This place was just OK. Service was really slow ( despite there only being 8 diners in the place plus 2 people at the bar) and the food was not as described on the menu. The food was fine. Pricier than it should have... Portion size for schnitzel is huge and consider sharing unless you are hungry. The schnitzel sandwich on pretzel bread with fries was a big meal. For a child consider just the $4 side of spaetzel... it is unusual in that it has a cheesy sauce like mac and cheese. It melts in your mouth and I could make it my... More

Food really didn't remind me of Czech Republic nor Germany. The pretzel bites were very good and the potato pancakes were pretty good, but could have been a bit thinner. The pork schnetzel was too thick and bland. Also should have had spaetzel, instead of potatoes. The goulach should have used sweet paprika, not spicy--like my wife's version better. Liked... More

You cannot beat the location right across from the Bethesda Metro. The interior tries to recreate a beer house with communal seating at benches. The night of my visit was somewhat quiet they I have to recognize it was a cold December weeknight. I'm sure this place is active on weekends, during the warmer months, and during special occasions. The... More

This place reminded me a lot of the pubs I used to hang out in when I lived in the Czech Republic, before it got all polished and western. And by saying that I mean I like it. The Czech stew was excellent. All meat and sauce, the way it should be. Great variety of beers, which is what one... More

Dropped by to grab a glass of wine and the place reeked of smoke and not the kind cigarettes make. There were a few people at the bar that were very clearly friends with the bar tenders behind the bar. Like I said, I wouldn't grab a drink here especially when there are so many other welcoming, no smelly and... More

We just had a birthday party for my husband catered by Tyber Bierhaus and it turned out really great. Bob, the Manager was very responsive, took care of all details, the food was ready on time and all our guests loved it. The Wiener Schnitzels were crowd favorites, sausages/wursts and pierogies also very good. Thank you for making this a... More

Beer and location are nice, although not typical German, but do not order and food. Unfortunately, though nice, the staff is not capable of handling more than two persons per table...

The beer & food was great. The service was good on the first trip better on the second. The waiter forgot our food order on our first trip. The beer was so good we came back a second time.

We were looking for a restaurant with a good beer selection near the Metro in Bethesda. We decided to give Tyber a try. The restaurant looks much like beer halls you would find in Europe. They have a very nice selection of draft and bottled beers from Europe, as well as a selection of local and other domestic craft beer.... More
