It took nearly 30 minutes to get there from Henley, on roads hardly wide enough for one car, and this American, sitting on the left where I would be driving at home (!), kept stomping an imaginary break pedal as some vehicle headlong came at us. But I guess these Brits know their roads. The pub is so remote there's... More

Stopped here for a meal on our first day in England. Qaint old English pub with old fashioned taps, beer at just the right temperature (not as cold as American beer, not as warm as English beer). The beef pies are homemade and absolutely delicious. Worth the trip just for the pies! The roasted chicken breast also very delicious. Little... More

Had been intending to go to the Crooked Billet for some time. Finally went last night but wish we hadn't. Food & Drinks VERY expensive. Really small portions, my chicken was so dry that I couldn't even eat it, however husband ate it for me as he doesn't like seeing food go to waste & as I said portions really... More

Pleasant enough. Good food and service. Will doubtless go again. Enjoyed the venison particulary. Encouraged to go by friends whom Im afraid everrated it.

So often you find the starters are amazing and the main doesn't live up to it, still not at the Crooked Billet, continuous high standards, though forgot the kitchen doesn't have a great suction device if you're seated in the first bit.

The music evening is an absolute delight. Great atmosphere and good food combine to make this a fantastic evening out. The relaxed atmosphere makes you feel that you are being fed and entertained in an old friends living room.

We have been to this restaurant before, but this was our first Sunday lunchtime visit. The restaurant is set in a very quiet rural location, and the walls of the restaurant are adorned with Victorian photographs, in keeping with the Olde Worlde feel. We took advantage of the £29.50 three course menu. There was a choice of six starters, mains... More

I simply cannot get why the Crooked Billet is so popular. We go, have a poor meal, don't go back for a long while, get persuaded to go again, give it another chance, and then have another poor meal. Latest meal was another triumph of mediocrity. My starter of Onion Tart was unbelievably bland; watery onions which were not properly... More

Olde worlde pub with some tables. But if you can, book the dining room. You will NOT be disappointed. Great and varied menu with local produce. Watch out the squid is a massive starter portion. Unusual decor with a high arched roof painted red and completely covered with photos. Big assortment of furniture but this quirkiness just adds to the... More
