Essex Seafood was recommended by a friend who lives in Magnolia. Four of us decided to drive up and try this place out. It was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday night. There were only two other parties in the Restaurant. We ordered the Fried Clam Plate, Fisherman's Plate, Shrimp Plate & Fish & chips Plate. As far as quantity the... More

Just stop for quick lunch. Very fresh lobsters and calamari. Friendly owner and food was good. Service was quick.

Large portions of seafood caught the same day. Food is served hot, and you can eat inside at a table of your choice or outside at a picnic table. We took our haddock sandwiches (you had a choice of fries or onion rings) outside to enjoy the evening, which also allowed our dog to dine, too. It's not terribly scenic... More

This us an order at a window seafood business with tables you pick yourself. It can. Be very busy, so go early. The food is good. If you like the self serve, casual atmosphere, this is the place for you.

I wanted some fresh fish to grill, and Essex Seafood not only is a restaurant, but a small fish market as well. The selection is limited, but it is fresh daily. Much better than taking a chance at the market. I bought the Halibut (for $3 a pound less than at the market) and it was great!

My first clam chowder and I loved it. Plus there were options for those who don't like sea food. Great atmosphere and appeared to be a local favorite and family owned.

I went here with my parents last night. They let me choose and I picked Essex Seafood because I have always liked the food there. I got the Haddock Boat which means you get a large slice of haddock with either onion rings or French fries. I picked the onion rings and they were delicious For an appetizer I got... More

Originally from Gloucester but moved to Florida 14 years ago. But every time I come back this is definitely on the must do list. Incredible portions and competitive prices.

This is a usual stop for us when we are in Cape Ann. Consistently excellent seafood. We've had clams, scallops, calamari, fisherman's platter---all wonderful. Fries are good too. Onion rings cut by hand to order. This visit was with my friend and his children who got the chicken fingers.....real chicken tenders which were delicious. The restaurant is inland so no... More

Our first time to try whole belly clams. We split an order of fried whole clams, onion rings and fries. It was all very good. The price was rather high we thought--$28 to split the whole dinner. We did like the clams though.
