I am writing this as I am about to place an order for bulk food from Sweet Basil for a party I am having this weekend. While you may know what a great restaurant this is (and has been for so many years) you may not be aware of the bulk food option which is the same quality and really... More

My wife and I have gone here for years. We venture out to other places including the North End and always come to SB. The food is consistently great and the wait staff attentive.

Sweet Basil is a very popular spot in Needham. The place was packed. We waited for about 30 minutes for our table. The dishes are big and there is always enough for a second meal. No alcohols are offered but they do provide wine glasses and folks can bring their own.

I wish I could come here more often, love this place! The food is sooo delicious! I tried the monkfish - super good and mussels - outstanding! What I love about this restaurant is that you can bring your own wine!

A friend of mine lives a few blocks away, and instead of the take-out we were thinking of, she suggested Sweet Basil. They do not accept reservations, and even on a Tuesday night at 7pm, it is hopping. Her husband decided to join us, and the three of us were seated in 5 or 6 minutes. Delicious bread and a... More

I'm just finishing up a wonderful chicken parm dinner as we speak, and feel inclined to share the secret of Sweet Basil. Hands down, they excel in all facets of the experience. Superior food quality, charming atmosphere, friendly service, huge portions and reasonable pricing. Not sure what else you can ask for. Well done! We will be back soon!

As others have noted, Sweet Basil is focused on the main course--no dessert, BYOB. The food isn't precious or elegant; it leans toward hearty and earthy. I had lamb shank, and my friend had beet ravioli, and we both enjoyed the dishes very much, My portion has very large, very tasty, very tender. The only problem for us--and it wouldn't... More

Sweet Basil is a hidden "sweet" spot in Needham. It is a BYOB so show up with a bottle or you will have a dry meal. You also need to be a lover of garlic. All of the options are fantastic and the food never fails to please but if garlic is not part of your regular palette, this may... More

If you ask anyone (almost anyone) in Needham they will tell you that this is there favorite place in town. I am hesitant to write this review as it just attracts more patrons making it even harder for us locals to get a table :). With that said, Sweet Basil is just great all around. They don't take reservations, don't... More

We live in Needham. We have tried all of the metro west restaurants. Sweet Basil is by far the best food and value. The vibe is energetic, the food is delicious and the portions are big enough to be shared. Best of all, you can bring your own wine. There is a small corking fee but still a fantastic value.
