Made a recent trip to Newburyport for a one day wrkshop. Arrived a day early to explore. Found Black Cow Tap and Grill for lunch. The location on the waterfront is prime, plenty of parking or easy walking from the business district. The interior is welcoming and has great charm and we were seated windowsude for viewing of the river.... More

We had lunch here on a cold winter afternoon. Without asking, we were seated in a booth on the back side of the restaurant facing the amazing view of the Merrimack River just below the bridge to Salisbury. The waitress was speedy and very friendly. The beer selection was good with many local brews. I had a roast beef sandwich... More

Heard some good things about the Black Cow but left with 3 of 4 disappointed. Location is terrific; even on cold cloudy days in December overlooking the water was beautiful. Service was very slow; staff seemed overwhelmed. Drinks were slow to come out; lunch even slower. I had to ask for waitstaff why it was so slow. Ordered chowder; it... More

Met a friend for lunch for an early Christmas celebration. We got a great high table in the bar beside the fireplace. It was the last table available but the best seat in the house! No pressure service but took a while to get service to put our drink order in. Burger was ok, a little overdone, a tad pricy... More

Hubby & I planned out our final day trip for 2016. We decided to spend the day strolling around Newburyport. Despite being a beautiful sunny day, it was brutally cold. Yet we bundled up and had a great time. I called ahead and reserved a nice table for two. The Black Cow is quite a popular place even in the... More

Had the unfortunate experience of meeting out oft owners here for a lunch. The food was just ok but the priced were rediculous! $20 for a sandwich!

We stopped for lunch on the way back to CT from Maine during the Thanksgiving holiday. The restaurant is on the water in the center of Newburyport, approximately a six minute drive from the I-95 Newburyport exit. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a light lunch and Bloody Mary's! The food was quite good. Service was excellent. I had... More

We've been here several times in the last 6 months and never been disappointed. It's a little pricier than some places in Nbpt, but worth it. We had dinner here a week ago and every single dish was fabulous -- and the waitress was a real pro. My husband says, "This is fast becoming one of my favorite places around... More

Nice spit was recommended by hotel. It is upscale dining, good friendly service today during lunch. We we sat a table overlooking the pot, nice view of water and land in the distance. I started with clam chowder, it did not disappoint. My husband had the fried calamari and daughter had the crab cakes. Everything was extremely excellent. Main entries... More

Went to the state park for a hike and then needed a place to eat. We decided to try Black Cow. The burgers were great. The kids burgers were the same as ours. We would go back again.
