Servers are timely and friendly and the food is very good. Our only complaint is when the Filet is $38 I don't want to pay almost $6 for each side... Bar menu is great and the actual restaurant is wonderful in all seasons-- fireplace and nice ambient lighting in fall and winter-- booths and table in DR and high tops... More

I think the food is average/good but is expensive. The atmosphere is probably the best part of the Black Cow.

I recently had dinner at the Black Cow Tap & Grill in Newburyport, Massachusetts. This restaurant is located right on the river and has excellent views. At the time of our visit, we were in the midst of bad weather and was mid-week so the dining room was largely empty. We had an excellent server who was very attentive. Our... More

Always a friendly, bustling option year round. Very nice and attentive staff. Some innovative seafood and salads mixed with some comfort food favorites. Gorgeous views all season long.

This is to me the time of year to go to the black cow. It is off season able to get the great view seat and able to sit relax enjoy the views without feeling rushed. Went for lunch had a good salad with chicken on it. The corn chowder had great flavor. Service was professional with out effort. Will... More

Joined friends for dinner at the Black Cow - it's right on the water in historic Newburyport. Plenty of parking and the food, service and casual dining atmosphere were all terrific. Appetizers were large enough to share & everyone brought some part of their dinner. The haddock, bacon wrapped cod & chicken are all recommended. Waitress could have been a... More

Made a recent trip to Newburyport for a one day wrkshop. Arrived a day early to explore. Found Black Cow Tap and Grill for lunch. The location on the waterfront is prime, plenty of parking or easy walking from the business district. The interior is welcoming and has great charm and we were seated windowsude for viewing of the river.... More

We had lunch here on a cold winter afternoon. Without asking, we were seated in a booth on the back side of the restaurant facing the amazing view of the Merrimack River just below the bridge to Salisbury. The waitress was speedy and very friendly. The beer selection was good with many local brews. I had a roast beef sandwich... More

Heard some good things about the Black Cow but left with 3 of 4 disappointed. Location is terrific; even on cold cloudy days in December overlooking the water was beautiful. Service was very slow; staff seemed overwhelmed. Drinks were slow to come out; lunch even slower. I had to ask for waitstaff why it was so slow. Ordered chowder; it... More

Met a friend for lunch for an early Christmas celebration. We got a great high table in the bar beside the fireplace. It was the last table available but the best seat in the house! No pressure service but took a while to get service to put our drink order in. Burger was ok, a little overdone, a tad pricy... More
