We came here after the Bill Maher show at the Fox Theatre, and what a treat! Hubby had two coneys and I had one of the American Special, a coney dog with loose meat added to it. The flavor of these dogs is AMAZING.

The cheese fries were great! Your coney dogs were had way too much mustard on them. Service was pretty good. The interior space was clean and you had a public bathroom which was great.

So, word on the street (Well, I heard this story while standing on the corner of a street anyway), is that 1 man immigrated from Greece and opened a hot dog restaurant in. It was doing so well that he sent for his brother, who then immigrated too. They had a falling out and the brother opened his own Coney... More

This place is what it is and you know that from the time you walk in. It has a fairly small menu but who cares when the CHILI is fantastic! The hot dog comes smothered in their signature chili, a dash of mustard and sprinkled with fresh onions. The service was immediate and in under 5 minutes I was enjoying... More

In 52 years I have never been to American Coney Island. I have always gone to Lafayette Coney right next door. My wife and kids and I were playing in Detroit yesterday and went into Lafayette to find that it was packed with many people waiting. We decided to go to American thinking how different/bad could it be. Well.............it as... More
