Went here before a wings game at the Joe. I would say this is just a typical bar with a ton of history. Food and drink choice is what you would regularly see in a bar. Burgers, fries, coke, beer, mixed drinks, etc. Would recommend to say you had a drink at the anchor bar in Detroit.

Let me preface this with we went here before a concert at the Joe. We got seated right away and ordered our drinks and food right away. People continued to be served around us and the waitresses would say our food is almost up. When the people who came in about 10 minutes after us, a party of 6, were... More

Was there for a beer and food. Received a beer and food. Liked the beer and the food. Tummy warm, then off to the Joe.

Walked over from the Holiday Inn Express on our way to the Joe. It seemed the bar wasn't ready for the large number of Columbus Blue Jackets fans that had shown up. Service started off pretty slow, we were sat in the back roon and it took a while for drinks. We ordered burgers as well. The food was just... More

FYI, this bar has absolutely nothing to do with the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY where the classic "chicken wing" originated!! I thought it might have been the same bar but different location, so I came here with great anticipation and was horrified by what was served. I went to college in Buffalo where chicken wings are a staple--light, crispy,... More

We enjoyed our couple of bevvies here while reading up on the history of the bar and the bits of Detroit history that tags along with it. Prices are better than reasonable and the vibe is relaxed which scored it above a 3.

Visited this bar for lunch while checking out the Auto Show. It is an easy two block walk from Cobo and the Joe. Great place for a reasonable burger and beer. The bartender Ellen was friendly and makes a great drink!

This bar was just around the corner from our hotel and right up the street from Cobo where we were working. Friendly bartenders and a decent selection of beers. Food was also good for bar food. Pool tables and TVs are a plus!

This place is definitely a dive bar, nothing special, but has character. Surprised to see a large bottled beer selection. Food is typical bar food. I would rate higher if flies wouldn't have flown into my beer and food.

Don't let the outside decor fool you. This is a great spot. Had the clubhouse sandwich and it was great. Prices are very reasonable and service is quick, efficient and friendly. Highly recommended!
