What a treat to enjoy a fabulous meal and beautiful environment. We especially loved the vegetable side dishes! Would definitely recommend.

Great customer service but disappointing on their food this time, mostly mildly cold and chicken was not as plentiful as Zehnder's only requests would replenish. I would have liked more white in their mixed selection seemed to want to rid dark meat more, the nice...touch was the chocolate cake for my birthday nice touch thank you Devon your a sweetheart! Would come back again but lets make those sides hotter please!!!More

Pretty expensive for what you get. Luckily, we were early enough to order from lunch menu. I ordered the schnitzel w mushroom sauce and it was delicious. They do serve high volumes of guests so they have it down to a science although it feels...too touristy for me. zehnders across the st had long wait times w no place to sit or stand and made you stay close once you put name on list. So we chose Bavarian and no wait, excellent service and cute shop too.More

We had to stop for lunch here since it sounded like a Frankenmuth tradition. There is a “chicken feud” between the Bavarian and the restaurant across the street. Too funny. We went during the off season so we didn’t have trouble getting a table. I...had the chicken and it was pretty good. They bring out some tasty breads too. The atmosphere is nice. The staff dresses in costume and a man was walking around playing an accordion. It was neat. Someday I’ll try the restaurant across the street and make my own chicken comparison.More

We had jager schnitzel, Wiener schnitzel and sides. Sour kraut was extremely good. Potato salad, chicken pasta salad...and beet’s good. Top off with ice cream and it was a great lunch. Definitely a keeper.More

I have been coming to the Bavarian in since I was a little boy. I loved it as a child. It was magical and unlike anything I had experienced before. I haven't been through Frankenmuth in a couple of years, but sadly the charm is...wearing off. The chicken is still tasty, but the experience less so. You get your dinner and so many sides. But I would suggest it is too much. It feels like the focus is on filling your table with items rather than quality and presentation. It felt like there were ten different bowls filled on an assembly line and dropped on your table. In fact that is perhaps what struck me most is that it felt like a cafeteria pumping out large quantities of food, but no care on the dishes. The focus seemed to be quantity and not quality. It might be time for the Inn to do a bit of reflection and focus on the experience and a bit of refinement. Don't get me wrong I don't want a complete revamp... the chicken is great but the sides were inconsistent and the experience just felt tired. I just think it is some time for some tweaks. I want to love Barvarian inn. I want to come back. I want to feel like family and I want it to be special.More

Very good food, slightly different from Zenders across the road and decorated differently, but both serve a wonderful family style chicken dinner. Worth waiting outside, especially in good weather, to hear the carillons.

I am writing to tell you of our most awful experience dining at your restaurant!! I had booked reservations for 14 people at 4:45 on Saturday, December 9, 2023, over a week in advance!! We arrived at 4:30 of chaos, a line to check in,...sent to dining area line we were to eat and confirm, then waited until 6:20 to finally be seated after asking hostess how long several times and saying just a little bit longer each time!! Finally we are seated with unfinished table set ups( no tableware or breads), drink orders came, finally ordered at 7:00 way past our 4:45 reservation!! A few appetizers brought out, then 40 mins later , the servings of your courses, being soup, luke warm, so-so salads in small bowls that hardly made it to the ones eating Chicken dinners, main food, stuffing, potatoes, noodles and chicken barely warm, squash that had an odd taste, all fixings in small bowls not even being enough to go around and waiting on more to come!! Definitely a disappointment on not even sub par food!! Granddaughter ordered a burger, charred and tough, my other 3 family members had cold steaks served with cold baked potatoes and one potato fully rotten on the inside, no butter/sour cream came with it so the other 2 had to wait for that!! Our waitress I understand was busy but would not check back with us for at least 10-15 minutes between visits. With 2 bills being $75ea, another of $140( my daughters family) and my sons family close to $275, I must say I am truly disappointed at everyone was in our party on our dining experience from the minute we entered your establishment!! My family was celebrating our Christmas weekend and this was a place they wanted to try!! We definitely will not be back and we’ll let others know about the disappointment in your establishment if they ask.More

It took 1.45 hours for our food, a family of five to come out. They delivered my hot meal (one of their combinations) on a cold salad plate. Food was awful, service was poor. Lots of excuses about how the kitchen was slow this week....Seriously?The manager, who came out to apologize after giving us a bunch of awful salads and buttered noodles, should have comped our meal. She did not. Do not waste your TIME or your money (ridiculous expensive) on this tourist trap. And we live in Michigan!!!More

We have been here many times over the years. We were very disheartened by the prices and experience this round. $31 a person for a chicken dinner is simply taking advantage of a very captive audience. The side dishes are very basic and cheap and...the chicken was dry and definitely not a $31 meal. Those are steak or seafood prices. We remember this being a very quaint and enjoyable dinner. But paying $70 for this early dinner left us feeling very disappointed. Definitely would not return at these costs. We guess we will just leave this as a memory.More

Our experience was worse than terrible. It was one of the worse restaurants I've had in my life, and I have traveled everywhere. Starting with the wait for a table (45 minutes on a random Tuesday). Once seated, the room wasn't too loud but certainly...smelled of kitchen which is always off-putting to me. We ordered drinks, which arrived within minutes, and appetizers, which arrived 45 minutes after we sat down. Our waiter was polite, but the wait was unacceptable. There were empty tables everywhere and even though the place is huge, we couldn't understand why it took so long. And as soon as we saw the food, I wish we had never gotten it. The bread was simply sliced white bread and a super dry fruit bread (two items no German restaurant would EVER serve). The cheese, spinach and artichoke dip was the most congealed and gelatinous blob I have ever seen, served with fried pretzel bites (probably leftover from uneaten pretzels). The pretzel was dry and bland. The mozzarella sticks would edible because I bet they came from a bag purchased at Costco. The chicken tenders were okay, breaded in a unique spice blend that I found interesting, but the teenagers present did not care for. The fries were tasty. The chicken dinner was a festival of beige. Fried chicken (Germans usually prefer roast chicken), mashed potatoes (instead of potato salad), sauerkraut and a bowl of gravy that would have been enough for 4 servings. Not a speck of color or appealing presentation. The last item we ordered was a chicken Ceasar salad that got devoured because it was actually good! Even though it had a drizzle of balsamic vinegar... Personally, I would never return to this place. I have had countless meals in Germany and both the menu, the presentation, the flavors, nothing is authentic. Which I could deal with if it wasn't borderline disgusting. In all honesty, only the Riesling saved the day. I am not sure who the target clientele for this restaurant is, but II don't know how anyone can love what they serve.More
