Trinidadian food in a very old village pub hidden away in rural Hertfordshire. Very welcoming to us and our small children on a Friday lunchtime. It is great to find good Caribbean food and in a very unusual location. Fried fish, jerk pork plus trimmings,...More

Tasty salt fish starters followed by amazing curry goat and scrumptious creole beef. The home-made hot sauce was a fantastic accompaniment. Not for the faint-hearted! Yumm!

We were meeting up with family to visit the nearby Benington Lordship Garden and had booked a table at the Bell Inn for lunch. A Caribbean themed pub / restaurant is probably not normally found in a 17th century pub in a small English village....More

Welcome to the Bell in Benington! We are a family owned and run business set in a Grade II* listed, 500 year old pub (made into a Public House in 1693) in the heart of the beautiful village of Benington, close to Stevenage. Raffie and Rashieda Hosein are delighted to have recently taken over the Bell in Benington in May 2014, and are now serving home-made, hearty Trinidadian and Caribbean foods in the TriniPot including Tomato Choka, Aloo Pie, Mutton Curry, Chicken & Lentil Stew, Spinach Rice, Fried Rice, Macaroni Pie and much more. Our daily fresh home cooked food is made with local ingredients as it is possible to source and our ales meanwhile are also sourced locally and we provide a wide range of spirits, wines and soft drinks. It has now been 3 years since the we have open our door to the public, and we have almost completely given up balance sheets, to welcome new faces daily. We were blown away by the heartfelt welcome we received and continue to receive from our local community . We would like to say a very special thank you to all. Our customer base have now expanded to places as far as Battersea, Watford, Barnet and Ware just to name a few. As a result we are continuing to expand our menu periodically to cater for their needs and taste! We have also held several birthday parties, the largest being 160 people, wedding of 120 people, anniversary of 90 people and many christenings. Some of these function were held outside with the use of a marquis and the beautiful ground which we have now created. Please stop by and say hello, try our food, enjoy our large beer garden, historical house and enjoy your surroundings. We look forward to welcome you soon!
